Sometimes the microSD doesn't stay in the slot and I have to try a few times to get it to 'click' and lock in. Is this a common problem?

And is the problem only with R4s or other ones as well?

I have that problem too. Sometimes, when I was playing halfway, the screen jus freeze. I tink is cos my SD is loose from the R4 ...

No wonder many people switch to DSTT for its spring out MicroSD function ...

It's about time for you to upgrade! For a great cheap cart, I recommend the Acekard2. If you're willing to spend a little extra for a great GUI and excellent GBA support, go with the M3DS Real. If you want the top of the line cart and money is not an issue, the CycloDS is for you.

On my old M3 Simply (my girlfriend is using it at the moment), spring was firm and solid, never had any problems with it (and I still don't)..I prefer spring loading mechanism, over springless carts..With spring mechanism, I don't have to take my cart out of NDS..

Also, moved to appropriate section!
