Okay so this is just quick fix and you can choose to do this or not, but after doing so you'll notice most of the lag/frame drops are on while you're playing the game.

Go to the WiiU settings → TV → Set Sceen Size and drag that all the way down.

The con is that you'll be playing with a black frame around your game, but you'll also notice a stop to the dropped frame rates, which bothered me very much while I was playing. It sucks that we have to do this, but it beats having noticeable lag during the gameplay, let me know if it helps!

I noticed severe framedrop in some other games to.
Setting your wiiu output to 1080i instead of 1080p or 720 p will remove almost al framedrops.
Reducing screen size does nothing in my experience, I still had framedrops .it meant for overscan tweaks and should not have any impact whatsover.

1080i is the best setting for botw.

Going to try that, thanks!

Why not try all resolution settings? There is 4 you know, 480P 720P, You are forgetting those as well. At least try the others. Or wait for possible update for it. Perhaps nintendo won't care now about it with the poor sales is gonna get on wii u.

There is no reason why lowering the resolution to 720p should make a difference, as the resolution for the Wii U version is already locked to 720p. Perhaps 480p would make a difference, though? I would think not, as I still experience intense lag in Kakariko Village when playing on the gamepad, which has a roughly 480p display iirc.

if it's a pun about the switch superior version, nice one, because even the switch version has noticiable frame drops.
We have around 13 Million WiiUs in the field, and much less switches at the moment. Most sales will be on WiiU in the beginning.
I dont think nintendo will fix the framedrops, but maybe the community. A great game anyway. Will spent a lot of time with it.
Edit: did you install the game to the internal memory (black wii u)?
I have a white wiiU, with only ~3,5GB internal memory. My game disc should arrive tomorrow, will see if it is better then (when it makes the 3GB internal install?).
