Hacking Quick question

I am considering retiring the old wii to the loft and moving my hdd full of games to the vwii on my wii u, My wii u hasn't been on in a while so is has not been updated to 3.0. Question is should I update to 3.0 before I mod my vwii or is that a bad idea?

vWii is unchanged under WiiU 3.0.

As far as I know the vWii has not been touched since the release of the Wii U
