Also, did you make sure to copy the usb-loader folder?

To SD or USB?
SD.

Now it's stuck on the screen that shows which port to plug it into...
1) Did you plug your HDD into the port closest to the edge?
2) Is it prompting you to pick a partition?

1 = yes, 2= no.

Delete SD:\usb-loader and SD:\apps\USBLoader\ and redownload it from here. Replace the config file in that download (located in the usb-loader folder) with this one.

Got to the loader; now it says device is not responding...

Are you sure that the HDD is even compatible?

I mean the model. Not all HDDs are compatible. It's the same with SD cards. Take a look here:

...dammit.

Well, that ends that... I'll have to buy a new drive...

Heya, I've been completely absent from this scene for a few years and just recently remodded my Wii. I have a hard drive with 2 partitions on it, I want to avoid making my FAT partition a wbfs so is there a way I can launch games with that format? Or do I have to make it wbfs? =/

You don't need 2 partitions anymore. You could just go with a single Fat32 or NTFS Partition now with the newest USB Loaders. Look into Modmii and rehack your wii with it. Its a computer program that will download all the newest apps/cIOS' and generate a detailed guide for you to follow on install instructions and even HDD formatting.

Once again, I've been away from the scene for a while, and have forgotten some stuff..
My Wii is softmodded, and currently set up to boot from my external for Wii games.

Now, I wanna play some of my older Gamecube backups, that are burnt on DVD+Rs, and cannot get them to boot from the disc channel.
I vaguely remember the setup, but can only find old, out of date guides to doing it.
Can someone point me to an up to date guide for booting my GCN backup discs?

[EDIT]

Nevermind. Installing NeoGamma as I type this.

I hope this is the right section:

How do I run download Wii Ware? Do I use it exactly the same as normal Wii games and put it onto my external hard drive with WBM or do i have to do something different? I have an SD card btw if i need to use that instead.

You go to the shop channel and buy it like a decent person.

But I don't really feel like buying World of Goo AGAIN after I already have it for my PC or buying Super Mario Bros. which I already have on loads of other systems.

http://gbatemp.net/t271798-mighty-channels, but you will have to figure out how to use it.
