Hacking Questions about buying a Supercard

Hi guys
I´m gonna buy a 3DS XL incl. DSTWO.
But I´m not sure about buying a DSTWO. Is there any other release in sight, like DSTHREE ^^?
And would it pay off waiting for such or rather not?

Am I right with thinking ds2sdk is only designed for software developer?

Yup, SDK would be to program for it.

There is no DSTHREE and I haven't heard of any plans for it NOR do I expect they will in the future. (could be wrong but don't think it's gonna happen.)

DSTWO is the best there is.

SNES/GBA emulation is alright. It's not perfect (some lag, not all games play), the DS is not the best machine for emulation.

DSTHREE has not even been mentioned officially, I don't expect such a thing to come around until they have a working hack on the 3DS.

Edit: By which I mean a hack for 3DS games on the 3DS.

DSTWO is a really great card. It's definently worth the money, and its the best flashcart IMO. The only problem I've ever had with it, is that mine sticks out from the 3DS XL from time to time. Don't wait for a DSThree, as There has been no announcement about any successor to the DSTWO.

I read that playing 3DS games is possible on r4 3d.
Now I would have to decide between r4 3d - play 3DS games - and ds2 - emulate gba,(s)nes etc.

Why are 3ds games not possible with ds2 or rather will it be possible by firmware update or only with different hardware?

3DS ROM's can't be played in ANYTHING. Don't let them fool you.

What the flashcarts that advertize they work with 3DS mean is that they can run old DS cames IN a 3DS. Nothing more. (Even then, a recent firmware update blocks most flashcarts PERMENANTLY on a 3DS. DSTWO is one of the few ones that were able to get around that and still work.) Some people might have misunderstood that and spread their confusion to others but they obviously haven't actually tried it themselves.

Basically, there's nothing better than a DS2 at the moment and there's nothing offered by other carts that it can't do.

While using the DSTWO in a 3DS, console updates shouldnt be done, right?

Thanks, I suppose updating to a higher version than 1.4.5-10 will not brick the console and newer DSTWO firmware updates will work again!?
