So, i got YSMenu on my R4 Gold Pro (came inside a Dual Core box), but, i have to boot YSmenu.nds every time, does the time-bomb kernel prevent me from booting it? (i know it's probably a time bomb kernel bc it's a ''2017 Edition'' which means it'll stop working in 2018).

The time-bomb kernel would tell you to replace the card even before you'd see the GUI. However, you can replace the R4.dat file with YSmenu.nds almost directly by hex-editing it. This way you'll never encounter such problem :)
Instructions how you can do it yourself are here, and in this post someone uploaded an already edited file.

The only thing about YSmenu is if you are running dsiware enhanced games such as pokemon black/white,they have freeze glitches and save bugs. What you should do is have YSmenu set as your primary on the .dat file and run your regular roms through that, but set the date back and run your stock kernel as a .nds file so you can still run the dsiware enhanced games.

Well, i copied the R4.dat and YSMenu loaded as my primary kernel. You mean the console's date?
Yes but only when you need to play a dsiware enhanced game.Thats the only reason you will want to still boot into your stock kernel as a .nds file. All other roms that don't use dsiware have no issues running off ysmenu so if you don't want to play a dsiware enhanced game you can simply keep the date on your console normal.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:

still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
