Hi GBATemp,

I have a N3DSXL with A9HL+Luma installed and I just bought a N3DS (small size) with 11.3 FW without
any CFW installed (I will install A9HL+Luma on this too).

What is the best way to transfer everything from my N3DSXL to my new one?

Thank you!

System transfer.
Choose the "I'm already using a microSD" option (or something of that sort) so that it won't try to transfer the data over wifi or anything like that, then just move the MicroSD over to the other console.
That option might not exist on n3DS. I know I chose it when I transferred from my o3DS though.

I didn't have to do that when transfering from n3DS(XL) to n3DS(XL). I just moved the SD card over.

I think that option only applies when going from O3DS -> N3DS

Thanks guys! So basically, I just have to install A9HL+Luma on the new 3DS and perform a system transfer? and move the SDcard over?
Don't move the SD card until it tells you to - or you'll lose your data. It needs to be in the source system at the right time for the encryption to be changed.

Thanks! I'll keep this in mind :D

So basically just a normal System Transfer between Luma N3DSs

So, If I understood this correctly, to do a system transfer between O3DS and N3DS (both with CFW), you choose I'm already using an SD Card, put the SD Card when it tells you to the N3DS and that's it? All my CIA games will work after that?

Caution:
- Official System Transferring will never transfer unpurchased items (e.g. illegally installed CIAs), which makes their savedata gone & requires paying additional time to re-install all of them.
- Backing-up 3DS-A's ticket.db and restoring it to 3DS-B can resolve this problem.

The saves do move, as does the installed game, it just won't show up until you reinstall the ticket.

I'm a total newbie, but a word of caution from my experience.

Doing a System Transfer renders the old system useless. At the end of the system restore, it says to take the SD card from old and insert in new but at that point, the old stops working ... It doesn't get completely wiped as I can boot into Luma but it seems to do at least a partial reset and none of the games or software are on it anymore.

Do you mean system transfer rather than system restore? That's supposed to happen - all your stuff gets moved to the target system. You'll also have to reinstall tickets for anything pirated, to make it show up. The source system gets formatted.
