Hacking Question regarding Zelda: Spirit Tracks

Whats the difference between the cracked version of the game and the uncracked one?
aside from the file size i don't see any diff coz both version boots up normally on my Edge-DS. what is the real purpose of the crack/patch?

the train gear and whistle aren't there{gear-for going in reverse , stopping , going fast, going faster ,and whistle for things}for the uncracked version.

you can't complete the game if you have the uncracked version and a patch with it.
