Hacking [Question] Possible to Dump Game Header without Gateway?

Hi Everyone.

Yesterday i wonderd if it would be Possible to Dump Game Headers without the Gateway Card on a 9.4 or 9.2 dont sure what 2DS.
The 2DS has a broken Touchscreen but is still usable. So i wonderd if it would be possible to use the Webexploid to dump a Private Header that I can use with my Sky3DS on my 3DS XL.

If you're on 9.2 or lower, you can use Gateway's dumper without actually having a Gateway card.

to my knowledge , as long as your 3DS can run the exploit, just use it to run the Gateway payload, and use it to dump your rom (Gateway payload doesn't work on 9.5 though .. i tried T_T)

i read that you can even use a powersaves device and in the memory will be the cart header, not tested it but i'm certain it works

I'm staring at my Powersaves Pro VMemory dump in HxD right now... made a save. What do I search for and where does my header ID begin in Hex?

So after NCSD I want ID.bin and then a2.bin? Yes? Using HxD... Id.bin is header and a2.bin is chip ID?

by the way, sky3ds has this optimizer option that trims games right? makes a backup and all that reformat etc? WHat about when adding games pre-trimm, any recommended way? program?

Using optimized on pre-trim games just compresses them in the zip file of the mSD. It can't trim any more free space so it works fine. I made sure when I did mine. Which is why sky army knife will be so cool when he finishes it. Heck, we might even figure out a plugin for powersaves for header ripping... That would be awesome. But it would mean sky3ds users over 9.3 would need powersaves.... But hey y not?

Yes. Not possibly either... you can. Instead of risking a ban by doing a memory dump on 3DS you can use memory dump on PC while game is connected to powersaves.

Here's the bad news: I'm tired. Been up since 3am. Did a lot of running around today. And I still don't know exactly which parts I have correct, but I have my suspicions...

As soon as I get up I'll see what I can find and write a quick tutorial. Then I'll sit down and start on master tutorial for Sky3DS.

I hope you have a powersaves dongle. If not, go get one. Hopefully by the time I wake up. You can buy one at gamestop for $30. Make sure you get the Powersaves Pro 3DS. It only works for 3DS games.

And HxD editor. Get ready to read some hex code.

The optimizer isn't as thorough at trimming ROMs, but it does do it. It tries to avoid deleting savedata so it's very safe. Trimming ROMs individually is better. Especially before creating savedata. So optimizer=safe. No worries. Enjoy it. Just get ready to wait a loooong time (2-3 hrs). Turn off sleep and hibernation on your PC if you do it.

I do it before I pass out and let it run. Speaking of which... I've been up since 3am est.
