I have a ps4 (9.00) I recently lost my only usb and I only have an external hdd so the question is can I run the exploit via the hdd and will it function the same as an usb?

Can you send a PKG file to a USB 3.0 Hard Drive Expanded Storage and install by remote package installer? and it installs?

Just use a dedicated USB3 hard drive as an external and install directly to it. Easiest solution. Its also very fast if you are going USB3 to USB3
