I saw on the Internet that people selling private Headers.

But i dont get it.

Do you need a lot of private Headers? Or just one for all your games?
And does the rom needs to be an Online game?

I dont understand those people. I tried to get it by my own, but i still dont understand it.

Can someone explain it to me in 2 or 3 sentences?

Greetings

I couldn't explain in 2 sentences but kind of broke it down for you...

Headers are like Serial #'s each game has a Unique ID/Header of its own.

When taken online on Nintendo services it looks for that key to authen

Now with that being said 1 header is all that's needed for any game besides ones that need the certain manufacturer dumps ex.

A C2 manufacturer needs to be used with a C2 header Or when going online you experience the 002 0123 error or whatever.

SAK can help you understand which types there are. As of now I think there are 3 types with C2 being one of them.

**Note**
Nintendo may be able to pick up on the same unique key being used multiple times for different games that is just my theory so I dump a few of my own games and switch up which headers I use just so I don't use the same one to many times although this hasn't been a problem to my understandings. So 1 to 3 headers is what's needed

And to get the headers I use my N3DSXL 9.0 firmware booting GW menu. It's all about firmware and model of 3ds you have as to whether or not you can dump them yourself.

Also Headers are not truly private unless you bought the game brand new and dump it yourself.

Edit: Also you can never sell the game

Sure, but i didnt get the Idea behind it. That people Buying private Headers.

I mean, you can buy at gamestop, amazon or Ebay brand new sealed 3ds games for 5€ and you are the only one who has that header

You need three. One for each type of Chip Manufacturer.
  1. Macrinoix
  2. OKI Semiconductor
  3. SanDisk
Then you check what Chip ID the ROM uses and match the header.

Most are Macronix. Some are OKI. Rare ones are SanDisk. But they all exist.

If you can't dump a ROM, then use Sky3DS template to find the game you got your private header from. Read the Chip ID hex. Now you know which Chip ID your private header should be used with.

If you can dump ROMS, just use ROM Patcher and look at the Chip ID of the game you pulled your header from.

You may spam your macronix header on all of your template. Then go in and add the special ones for individual games.

I dump and sell headers all the time, I had no idea it was illegal. I just buy cheap cheap games individually or in lots, rip the header and then destroy the game.

Some folks use Sky3DS and can't dump the header themselves.

Correction, some Sky3DS users DON'T KNOW HOW to dump their own headers. But if they have a Powersaves and some gumption, anything is possible.

Not going to debate semantics about services and whatnot. To each their own.

But they need a Powersaves yes? If they don't already have one that's another expense, so $5 or less for a header is far more agreeable to someone who doesn't want to buy games and just dropped $70+ on a SKY3DS and microSD.

I guess the only flip side to that would be that if you are buying a "private header" from somebody, who is to say that they aren't selling the same one to numerous other people, which could then get possibly leaked out to the masses (not saying that Ronhero is doing that but just playing devil's advocate in a general sense here.) I guess that it just boils down to how much money you have to spend, how cheap you are, and how risk tolerant you are in the end.

Yea I make about $1 per header just to cover the slight time I spend on it, sometimes $2-3 if I have to drive somewhere to get the cart.

Personally I'm not trying to ruin my rep here or Maxconsole over a few bucks, yeah I can see how the temptation is there but then I think to myself WWLD (what would Link do) and decide it's best just to be the hero

How in the world is it illegal?
I just said i think its illegal, not exactly sure about that. I thought that a header file is unique for each cartridge therefore its like a cd-key and is being sold as part of the "copy righted material" ( 3ds game) being sold by nintendo. so for someone to rip their header/key and let someone else use for online and charge money i would think that violates some law in the US without having a license to sell it? this is just how i see it. i could be wrong and others may see it differently as headers are not "copyrighted" idk im just saying i would never buy one.
