So I've been trying to compile or get a binary of the just-released Linux 3.0 kernel. I have a few questions. One, can I just run this on it's own in a VM or something? And two, can someone please elaborate on how to compile it? Right now, I get this error:
Code:
/Users/tattar8/Downloads/linux-3.0-rc1/scripts/Kbuild.include: No such file or directory
/bin/sh: /Users/tattar8/Downloads/linux-3.0-rc1/scripts/gcc-goto.sh: No such file or directory
/Users/tattar8/Downloads/linux-3.0-rc1/Makefile:327: /Users/tattar8/Downloads/linux-3.0-rc1/scripts/Kbuild.include: No such file or directory
make: *** empty variable name.ÂÂStop.
make[1]: *** [scripts_basic] Error 2
make: *** No rule to make target `include/config/auto.conf', needed by `include/config/kernel.release'.ÂÂStop.

It should be compiled on the developer computer anyways. Too much missing stuff over there. Where did you find it?

Note the 3.0/2.6/2.8 depending on how you want to call it hasn't even been released yet so there's no point in compiling it unless you're really interested in being an alpha tester
