Hacking Question about backing up/restoring a save

I've backed up my Pokemon Platinum save and it was a 256KB sav, after I played it on my CycloDS it became a 512KB sav.

So my question is can I restore my save using the 512KB sav without no problems?

Yeah it should be fine. The only thing the other 256KB is used for is the recorded Battle Video, though I don't know if that's important to you or not.
