What's the difference between installing the FW with the NDSL-file and the NDSi-file? I currently have an AceKard 2i with FW installed with the NDSL-file, but I've sold both my NDSL and NDS and will soon buy a NDSi. Does it make any difference if I leave the FW as is or if I re-install with the NDSi-file?

It won't make a difference. There are two different files because one won't work in the other. For example, the NDSL updater won't work on DSi, same goes for the other way around.

They both work on NDS/NDSL/DSi its just DSi only allows one cart to be updated because the dsi powers up the slot1 when you remove a cart while NDS/NDSL does not and so allows you to update multiple carts one after another without having to powercycle between updates.
