The latest PSP 3000 motherboard revision (09G, which has historically been unable to do anything more than a temporary hack) has been successfully downgraded to firmware 6.20 (which can have a permanent patch applied on any model it runs on). This is awesome news because normally a PSP can't have firmware installed lower than what it came with for various reasons, so the fact that Davee (who's worked on various other PSP hacks before) and others managed to find what it was checking for and fool it is an awesome discovery.
It should be stressed that it's still in the experimental stages and it's not a "clean" 6.20, but this is a great step forward, and shows that one of the commonly-assumed barriers of PSP hacking (motherboards having a certain minimum firmware requirement) can be bypassed in certain scenarios.
