Hardware PSP model connectivity problems

Me and my buddies have been wanting to battle each other on Dissidia 012, I have a PSP Go, they have PSPs 1000 and 3000. Problem is, I can never connect with them. I followed literally the same steps they did, and while they can battle each other, I can't battle them.
Is it because I'm using a trimmed iso? And if I download a full iso, will I be able to use the same save file?

Edit: They're also running official UMD versions of the game, while I'm a dirty pirate.

could be aye, you also using the same version also?

try the same USA ISO thats untrimmed to be sure if you still have problems we can troubleshoot more

Got a new ISO, USA version like my PSP. I'll try connecting to other PSPs tomorrow. New problem though: My old save file doesn't show up when I try to load the game save up. Any solutions?

Looks like you was using the European ISO which save wouldnt be compatible with the USA one

There are save extraction, editing, and recompression tools out there, but I don't have any experience with them.

Successfully migrated the save file. Had to use the Savegame deemer plugin
