Hacking PSP emulation?

So, now that a good hard look has been taken with the firmware of the PS3, how far away are we with PSP emulation? I do remember some german hacker playing GTA Chinatown Wars on the PS3 at flawless speed, and we also know that direct ports of Minis can just be shoved to the PS3 with little hassle. I'm not an impatient man, i'm just wondering if it's a possibility, and if it is, how long until it happens? Also, would PSP homebrew be able to be run on the PS3 at all, or would some kind of massive conversion have to take place?

PS3 has a PSP emulator in it, thats what runs the Minis. There is IIRC a folder in dev_flash called "psp_emulator" or something like that. Take from that what you will.

Minis are dual-architecture, they are not emulated.

The PSP emulator file is used when the PS3 and PSP exchange/stream content, by itself it can't be used to launch a PSP program on the PS3. While parts of it could very well be useful to make an emulator, we don't have the source to it.

the original thread over on psx-scene was locked and most of the posts deleted I think. It would seem that from what I was able to find on gamersuper, he was nothing more than a racists trying to spread some hate. I pm'd you a link to what I found. It leads to a russian page in the end so I can't tell you what all is said on it but I can clearly make out the "N" word on it.


Like Rydian said, we just need to wait someone will more than likely make one.
