PSP bricked (?) after trying to setup ARK-4

My PSP 1000 is bricked, as you can already tell. Light turns on, then off, black screen, no backlight, etc etc... But there's a problem. Nothing I do seems to work!

Things I tried:

• Home + Power
• Home, Select, Start, Square, Triangle + Power
• Removed memory stick and did the above
• Removed battery and used AC and did the above

Things that happened before the brick:

I installed ARK, and wanted to use the cIPL flasher, but I had to uninstall Infinity first, so I did that. For some reason, the downgrader thinks I'm in 6.60, and tries to "downgrade" to 9.9.9. In System Info, the version is 6.60∞. Did this multiple times (which was my bad) and it bricked.

Can anyone help?

If you can find a Pandora battery you can use that to recover. If you have a original battery and a PSP with cfw you can make one yourself

I really don't want to use anything like that. But... would I need another battery?

If your psp wasn't bricked, you could have soft modded the battery to make a pandora battery then you would only have needed to make the magic memory stick but you can't soft mod the battery now as you cannot boot into cfw.

You need help from someone with cfw.
I made a jigkick battery when they first came out. It was quite easy.

If you lived in Norway I would gladly help. But if you can't find anyone with cfw I think the best solution is to get one more PSP and create jigkick battery, I have gotten some really cheap
Maybe someone on this forum live closeby and are willing to help

Well, you could still make the magic memory stick with just a pc and see if the battery will boot into recovery mode by holding the R button while trying to boot the psp then. Even if it doesn't, you at least have the memory card setup.

The worst part is that if he had managed to install ARK's cIPL then he would be able to boot into a magic memory stick without a special battery. It's an anti-brick meassure me implemented, but it doesn't help if you don't already have cIPL installed or it gets corrupted.

Yeah. That's unfortunate for him. I don't know what else to suggest that would help.

If it's not a hardware issue, or a corrupted idStorage, then a pandora or baryon sweeper is the only solution.

Well, I wish him good luck in finding a pandora battery or a baryon sweeper (or at least fairly cheaply) nowadays. I couldn't find either for sale anywhere (even a search on Banggood or Aliexpress gave no results). Shame. Maybe they will get lucky and find a psp cheap that has seen better days but still boots or decide to do the hard mod.

You can handmade a Pandora battery and using a pc create the special memory card; at least you are lucky with having a fat psp because the 1000's models are the least problematic from all the psp kinds.

There are old (2007) forums in spanish, portuguese and english explaining how you can physically mod your original battery to convert it in a Pandora.

Basically opening the battery and desold/cut/remove/ one specific leg from it's Eeprom and thats it, or by cutting the trace from it.

Resolding the leg or redrawing the trace will revert it to it's original function, but i don't remember which specific one is ,so you need to research it.

Don't think so. If you buy another PSP you can make a Pandora battery and sell one of them at least.

If you find dead PSP batteries on eBay, then you could turn them into 'pandora batteries' and make some money out of them. Just an idea I had. I've gotten some cash from selling modded consoles for around £15-20 for every service.

I had this as a sidehustle when I was young. I meet people in town and installed cfw for them using Pandora
This was when PSPs was still for sale and I must have been maybe 15 years old.
At the time this was the only way to install cfw if you had the newest ofw.

Was probably about 14 or 15. Had some of my dad's mates wanted me to mod their consoles and pre-load games onto them.
Not many understood how to do it step-by-step without bricking them and they knew that I was the one to help out.
