i got a psp 2000 with 5.50 firmware can i downgrade it ? and run 5.03 cfw?

''If your PSP is on firmware 5.50 up to 6.20 and fully hackable, follow the "downgrading from 6.20" step, then the proper 5.03 softmod step.''
how to know if its fully hackable ? on the list there is only semi hack ?

Yes you can. Click on the PSP in my signature. You need to update to 6.20 first.

What color is your PSP? Is It a limited edition model?

Curious to why you want to downgrade to 5.03 instead of going to prome-4..

Is there certain home brew you are trying to run that only works on 5.03?

It doesn't matter since its a 2K. He can downgrade using the 6.20 TN HEN downgrader.

iam noob

no, it's not. upgrade to 6.20 or 6.35 and use a HEN to use hellcat's recovery flasher to downgrade to 5.00. it's a lot easier than it sounds, trust me.
and then upgrade to 5.50 GEN-D3 and use prometheus-4 patch.
or you can just use 6.35 Custom-18, which is less stable than 5.xx CFWs, but it plays backups with prometheus ISO discless driver pretty fine.

also, Zorua is wrong (no offense) in that it does matter if your PSP is a PSP2000v3, as trying to downgrade that will brick you. or trying to use 6.35 Custom will also brick you.
you need to use a HEN to check your motherboard version. if it's TA-88v3, then you can't downgrade or install full custom firmwares. in which case you're better off with 6.35 PRO-B3, but that is very stable anyway, so you'd have nothing to worry about. aside from using POPsloader. but if you use PSN dumps then you won't need POPsloader anyway.

I use 5.50 GEN-D3 with the Prome-4 add-on. Works very well.

I thought Zorua would answer with any benefit to 5.03..

so all i can do is semi hack ?

Don´t know. Post your motherboard rev. Use PSPident homebrew, take a screenshot with it, and post the image results here.

If it´s TA088 rev2 or lower (mine`s TA088 rev2) it is fully hackable (custom firmware enabled = messing around with flash0). But if you have TA088 v3(or higher), you have an "unhackable motherboard", which means you can`t install any custom stuff to flash0 or the PSP commits suicide. (Brick!)

That´s why there is a softmod, which means no touching nand´s files, but at same time enabling unsigned stuff, and isos. And won´t harm your PSP.

maybe a noob question

Full hack means full custom firmware.

Semi Hack means: Partial Custom Firmware: where it's stored inside the ram, so when you turn your psp fully off, you have to do the process all over again.

just check your motherboard version and find out whether it's a TA-88v3 or not. if it's anything but a v3, you can downgrade/install full CFW.
if not, then there's 6.35 PRO-B3.

softmod = backups on your PSP without mayor problems. WORKS ON ANY PSP

Make sure you know which PSP firmware you ARE using, or it will be quite difficult to "softmod" your psp, because every firmware have its "unique" softmod.
