I agree. There is this guy who recently bricked like 4000 3DS because he left the OTP.bin in files9 folder.
You can follow a video if you want, but the files and your main guide should be the holly one or a translation/adaptation.

Dude, the ones following the youtube guides are, first of all, not even looking at this forums.

This thread is as useless as those guides.

Oh but we could make a post about all the things youtubers screw up with this type of video-guides. It'll be funny.

Yakara? Always thought he was a joke of a modder, don't know why everyone loves him so much.

Then maybe a video saying not to follow videotutorials? :P

Yes, him. Me and a <<famous>> friend of mine have been arguing a lit with him about how he does things, but doesn't really seem to care. Also, he modified the safearm9lhinstaller to put his name on it. I really hate that, isn't that ilegal or something? I know there is a lisence on the readme, but I'm not really sure.

A lot of them are. Time and time again I've seen people post on these forums mentioning that they were following a video tutorial.
It's actually backwards for me. Video guides are too bothersome. With text, you can follow guides at your own pace.
I agree with that, seems most people think otherwise though.

i srsly cant stand the people who are too lazy to read something that may break your console if you do it wrong. You may have a lot of questions as i did, but cmon, read it 4 times before procceed...

Most noobs who use YouTube videos have no idea about this site yet or the guide.Thats how I started out in the rxtools days, then one thing lead to anoughter and found guides to be more detailed in the long run since they get frequently updated while video guides that stay up for long periods of time age. This issue could easily get resolved if the uploader took down the video once it becomes obsolete, but I guess the YouTube money from the views gets to there brain.

video tutorials are almost always outdated but
THOSE BASTARDS ALWAYS RENAME IT

the video will be a tutorial for 9.2 install and they'll rename it to (2017) (11.2)
i remember back when i had my old wii i wanted to hack it so i found a tutorial that said it worked on the latest firmware and it had the current year in the title
i was on 4.3

the tutorial used bannerbomb
