i was here since you open it i know you want to end the hate to gateway, but they deserve it (in part of course, theres no absolute true)

except that all people are doing is trying to shit on users, if you dislike GW's practices send them a email listing all the things you dislike about them and your demands, they will get back to you pretty soon, but calling people who just want help using the cheat engine, or need help with anything GW idots and trashing threads with pointless BS is pointless, the user obviously wants help not 101 stupid memes and made up facts from the same 2 people in tandem

no but there is people who just trash threads constantly, and if someone is happy using a GW card they already own and just need advice with something try to help first and if someone else has already beat you to the "JOIN THE CFW MASTERRACE!!!" post one post is enough, some threads is 1 question for help, 5 pages of circle jerking about CFW's then finally an answer to the actual question asked

sure spread the work of the cfw revolution, but try to leave it to one post....maybe 3, but try not to all just parrot the same crap for 5 pages

even better yet if the issue they are experiencing really is a GW issue and there is no workaround for GW users and other CFW's dont have this issue, make that argument, just saying "switch to cFW GW sucks" doesn't explain why or how switching to cfw will resolve the issue and the user will more than likely just ignore the post and assume its fanboyism at play

The brick code was added to brick people using clone cards intentionally, not actual user error. They made a shady ass announcement telling you to buy their cards because something bad would happen to your console if you used a clone. That's reason enough to hate Gateway. The disclaimer doesn't mean shit if they're intentionally bricking your console."Hey guys we're going to brick your console if you use a different product. We're not bad we swear!"

I have a CFW (no A9LH), Menuhax + Luma3DS, but sometimes I use my Gateway Card.
I use Gateway for games I dont play so much, so no need to install them as CIA and for searching Cheats for the kids. Gateway is faster in searching memory than NTR Debugger is.
Yes, I can do all this without gateway but sometimes gateway is easier and faster.
This means, even it may "useless" now, it can give you some benefits like faster Cheat search. So it depends on the people who use it if it's useless.
Just my thoughts.

disclaimers are disclaimers. if someone tells you something bad will happen to your console if you use a card that isn't theirs, and you think to yourself "eh, YOLO screw it" then i honestly don't know how you can sympathize with that person. did Nintendo make any announcement at all? they didn't. they mercilessly bricked people who region changed korean wiis and no seems to bat an eye or even really care. brick code isn't correct in any means of the sort, but the reason people complain about it really isn't very well justified.

there are just too many people who dislike gateway for anything like that to happen. here on gbatemp, one snarky comment is enough to cause a domino effect and bend the minds of users who really don't have any experience with the product they direct their hate towards.

I like my gateway. .cia installs suck so much. The real scene died and now we deal with basically p2p to get roms, but now they rarely show up as a .3ds. CFW comes round, kids can't use .3ds, so Gateway users get screwed. I know I can install .cia with gateway but fuck, .3ds is so much better, drag to sd card, play. CIA you gotta drag to sd, launch cfw, launch prog, install game, wait 30 min, play.

It's like: an internet company that you've been using for years [GW] decides to install something on your computer [3DS] and tells you: "If you go to another company, something bad could happen to your computer" [Brick code] and then the moment you connect using another company's IP [GW clone] your hard drive [3DS NAND] gets formated

You can repeat it as much as you want it's still not true. Nothing proves that they "intentionally" bricked people consoles. Thinking it because it suits your argumentation still doesn't make it true.
Also they replaced all bricked consoles for free even those which warranty expired.

they weren't designed for it, but they had the ability to do so. i don't think you understand me here. before 4.2, people imported korean wiis for low prices, and region changed them. this was an effective way to circumvent any profit Nintendo would've made from those wiis in any situation. in order to combat this, they began bricking unsuspecting users who would make these kinds of purchases. is this not the same mentality gateway carried? buying ds2s wouldn't return any profit to the gateway team, and ds2s were cheaper with different modes, and emulation. in the midst of this, gateway killed them off.

i've never stated that gateway's bricks are justifiable. i'm saying that the things that you people argue aren't very strong points.

i guess someone didn't read the op then because i can prove they did it on purpose. they only replaced victims of the error who bought it from official retailers, but that brick code was meant for the region changed korean wiis.

System Menu 4.2E/U/J and higher call a new ES Ioctlv(0x45) which got added in IOS70. On older(check!) IOSs this Ioctlv always returns -1017.

IOS tries to encrypt a certain byte pattern with the Korean key and then compares it with hard coded values, if the result matches it returns 0 which will then trigger the error in the System Menu.

2. Gatebait can brick
3. CFW is a free alternative with much more features. NTR's screen recording without a capture card is an example.
4. CFW is actively worked on by many devs, while gaytbate has shit code, and is worked on by a very few people.
5. Updates for CFW are frequent, while updates for shitway are released Soon™
6. We have nobody advertising CFW, it is free to use (saying again) while brickway(I'm running out of names to use) has people like you bump GBATemp saying "gaybay is gud, yuz id, dond hade id"
