Why do you know it?
Because they relied on a protocol that was fixed with 9.6, and as of late all new games use the 9.6 pseudo-encryption. Basically they need a new kernel exploit or something on that level to actually see how the new protocol works so they can adapt their next card to it. Then and only then will you see a new version and thats a big if.

Basically, No kernel exploit=no new Sky3DS.

...I think what you say is false, if Nintendo did a good job.
I'm pretty sure the "new AP checks" are a challenge-answer like that:
1) 3DS send a random number to the cartridge
2) The cartridge encrypts it with its private key and send that to the 3DS
3) The 3DS decrypts the answer with cartridge public key, and, if that's the same number it sent at the beginning, accept the cartridge

So, as you see, two solutions:
-You patch the checks (need an ARM9 exploit)
-You extract the private key from the cartridge (it's very, very, VERY difficult and it costs a lot)

Again, that's only supposition, but that's very likely.

Sounds plausible and I agree with your solutions especially the first one, but time will tell how the new AP actually works. Maybe @WulfyStylez could take another swing at it?

Oh god, it's like I'm getting this huge deja vu from the old DS days roflmao.
Sounds like a load of baloney to me, sorry.

It doesn't matter what it sounds like to you, I'm just stating facts. Sorry if you can't handle being wrong.

And yes, I also own a DSTwo and also legally own all my DS games. I apologize if that upsets your world-view.

maybe gateway know how the new AP works, since they claim they fixed it within 5min on the new 3.4 beta update.

you can't fix something you don't know right? so they might know

Yes, they certainly know. And one or two Nops later, it was fixed. (Thanks to ARM9 access)

well seeing as they do firm patches they will have almost certainly just looked at it disabled it, as it's just a check in place rather than some sort of additional encryption all they really needed to do was either patch the check to never takes place or patch it to always return as successful

Low and behold, GW responds. Guess what that means? The only people who need to fight this encryption are blue 3ds and sky3ds. Better yet, PoC on Cheating? Wow, talk about progress. Love having a GW and being patient. Love having a card that is capable of being updated. Yeah thats me rubbing it in on the owners of sky3ds who blasted GW back then.
