We're always waiting for something. People who have a jailbroken PS5 on fw <=4.51 weren't able to play any of the games on the OP list. They've been waiting for the best part of a year for backports or jailbreak for newer firmwares. On the other hand, people with updated consoles can play games for fws >=8.00. This is why some people who can afford it choose to have two units.

Yeah I was fine being updated past 7.61 because I bought all the games I would want for PS5 anyway (only 5 total) the rest I have on PS4/PC, but the fact that all I had to do was uncheck two checkmarks and it wouldn't have updated two nights ago kinda sucks. Oh well there's really nothing in the near future i want on PC or games in general. After getting the new Zelda on Switch I'm not sure there's another game I want in 2024 period, probably not even in the first half of 2025, I already have all the games I want.

What about Cyberpunk 2077? Anyone know what firmware it requires to play the disc version? Does it come with 2.0 patch?

Edit: bought it used, I don't think it will work on my 7.20 PS5, but maybe when (or if) I update to 7.61

Adding this in case it helps anyone in the future: Silent Hill 2 requires update on FW 8.40.

Thought I might be able to get away with it since my 8.40 managed to play both Rebirth and Stellar Blade but alas.

It seems that the SDK version details in ProsperoPatches also provide a clue as to whether the game is compatible with 7.61 fw. These are some with SDK version 0x0700 or lower that still need to be tested though:

Alan Wake 2
Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora
CYGNI: Alls Guns Blazing
EA Sports FC 24
Endless Dungeon
Expeditions: a Mudrunner game
Ghostrunner 2
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged
Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
LEGO Horizon Adventures
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name
Lord of the Fallen Remake
NARUTO X BORUTO Ultimate Ninja STORM CONNECTIONS
NHL 24
Persona 3 Reload
Persona 5 Tactica
Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties: Definitive Edition
Side Bullet
Snowrunner
Stellar Blade
SWORD ART ONLINE Last Recollection
Ys X: Nordics

Technically it should already be compatible because even update 1.51 already works on FW 4.51.
Since it's such a popular game I'd hope that someone already tried this game.

I was thinking with the latest update in the scene to 5.x and onwards and itemzflow also out for 5.x, are these games now dumpable and distributable or is there another hurdle in the way

Sadly Cyberpunk Ultimate does not work on 7.20 firmware. It seems 2.0 patch needs 7.61, or even 8.xx 😩

As long as they decrypt fully (scefolder and eboot) they should be fine.

Backporting is the hurdle.

Why can't the previous versions be dumped?
As I understand it, you can use the PS4 disc tocplay the PS5 version.
Why can't we dump it?

@KiiWii I've looked into a few of these games, and even though they use SDK 7.00, most of them need 8.00+ fw to install/play. Here's a list of the ones I tried, all from US game discs:

SDK / Minimum required fw / Game

7.00 / 7.60 / Assassins Creed Mirage
7.00 / 9.40 / Alan Wake 2
7.00 / 8.20 / Dragon's Dogma 2
7.00 / 8.20 / Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
7.00 / 8.40 / Stellar Blade

I've also confirmed these other games from 5.00-7.61:
5.00 / 6.02 / Dead Space Remake
5.00 / 6.00 / Dragon Ball Kakarot
5.00 / 5.50 / Gotham Knights
5.00 / 6.00 / God of War Ragnarok
5.00 / 6.02 / Hogwarts Legacy *
7.00 / 7.61 / Marvels Spider-Man 2
7.00 / 7.61 / Mortal Kombat 1
6.00 / 7.00 / Star Wars Jedi Survivor *

* The game disc does not contain the full game.

I also tried these out of curiosity, and they are SDK 8.00+:
9.00 / 9.40 / Astro Bot
8.00 / 8.40 / Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

@darksweet
Game came out in 2021, i don't see any reason for the disc version (unpatched) not to work. 🤔 If no disc drive... No luck so far it seems 😆
