Gaming PS5 7.61 Compatibility thread

Games (or updates) released ON or BEFORE SEPTEMBER 13th 2023, are guaranteed to have a firmware requirement of 7.61 or lower.

Games (or updates) released between SEPTEMBER 13th 2023 and OCTOBER 26th 2023 may require 8.00 and above.

Games (or updates) released ON or AFTER OCTOBER 26th 2023 will more than likely require 8.XX.​

(Some disc based games will traverse this date bracket because developers would have built the game using 7.XX SDK but by the time it gets printed and release, 8.XX is the latest available OFW. Digital games might also, but they usually have a day one patch that increases the OFW requirement).

I may add version information, but this forum will never host or link to game files.

(This thread is heavily WIP; more will be added as they're confirmed, and the thread will be neatened up and categorised.)

No backports yet for PS5 games?

I bought a PS5 just earlier as it was half the price the one I bought, so if that one has a lower firmware great if not, I can always resell it. Finding a PS5 with a low firmware and at a reasonable price is extremely rare, but one can come across it.

Not yet, we would need someone with a private exploit on higher firmware or decrypted dumps (aka developer).

If it’s second hand why not ask the firmware and specify them not to update it?

I did that back in the day to get a second PSP.

They never know where it is and/or "it's already prepared to ship." I don't mind reselling it anyway.

SnowRunner and The Quarry were released on May and June 2022 for the PS5. I haven't tried them though.

So sad that while I was already updated past 7.61 because I bough my PS5 this year to play FInal Fantasy VII Rebirth, I wasn't paying attention and let it update to newest firmware 2 nights ago. Going to be a long wait for me.

We're always waiting for something. People who have a jailbroken PS5 on fw <=4.51 weren't able to play any of the games on the OP list. They've been waiting for the best part of a year for backports or jailbreak for newer firmwares. On the other hand, people with updated consoles can play games for fws >=8.00. This is why some people who can afford it choose to have two units.
