Not sure where else to post this, since I'm leaning towards an Xbox 360 at the moment I'll post it here. I'm soon getting a new TV, and i will then be getting either a 360 or a PS3 (already have a wii) to use for gaming and as a media center, what are the pro's and cons with each of them? What should i get : (

ps3 pros:

the cd drive is more robust and less prone to fail
multiplayer is free
one or 2 games have better graphics . the rest are the same.
the only exclusive game it has is metal gear.

x360 pros:

you can mod it and download games.
the console itself is cheaper.
many MANY more games are available for it compared to the ps3

then theres the age old equation of xbox + wii = ps3. in terms of money.
so instead of getting one ps3 why not get both a x360 and a wii.
a wii can also be modded.

I wish people would stop asking other people. For the final time: Get the console which has the most games that you are intrested in. Doing so will make sure you pick the correct console.

there are more exclusives than just one for the ps3.

my brother is getting a ps3 for xmas

he is getting a 80GB
Metal Gear Solid 4
Ratchet and Clank Future
Resistance 1
Resistance 2
Little Big Planet
Heavenly Sword
Gran Tourismo 5 Prologue
Uncharted Drake's Fortune

(yes look at all those A++ exclusives)
there are alot more coming out but this is it for now

already have like every other system
Wii, 360, PS2, DSL, PSP

I personally am liking my PS3 more right now, it just got Playstation HOME open Beta where you can walk around and make new friends(kinda like the sims for free), you can copy vids, pics, and music to the HD, it has some awesome games(which are finally getting some trophy support), built-in wi-fi, blu-ray player.....I like my 360, but my PS3 is picking up, in terms of enjoyment.

To be honest, I am more interested in knowing the capabilities they have outside gaming, working as a media center etc, and possibly other useful things you can use it for ,since the games are more or less the same, and it comes down to personal opinion in that matter i guess.

as far as outside uses go and media box then the ps3 is pretty much king
360 fails in the category because of proprietary formats (WMV)
as well as not be able to pick up media or copy media from usb drives ect...

if i had to buy a console today it'd be the 360.
if i had to buy one 2 years from now it'd be the ps3.

microsoft has clamped down the 360 and made it near useless for media.

Plus remember that ps3 has a bluray player built in, so you can watch some crisp hd movies on your new tv.
I ended up with both, I like the ps3 for certain exclusives (little big planet and metal gear so far) and for the free online play (plus my brother has a ps3, so I can play with him).
I didn't use the 360 much until I flashed the drive.. now I love the damn thing.

I would ultimately make the decision based on games you must play, and the controller. So, I'd pick the ps3.

360 has given me alot of joy but if you plan on going more for media usage then ps3 is the way to go. but game wise 360 is my favourite.
