Hardware PS3 harddrive failure fix?

My PS3 is hardrive isn't loading and is stuck on the *THE SYSTEM SOFTWARE CANNONT BE RUN CORRECTLY* screen and wont get out of it when I press the PS button
I believe I was on REBUG 4.84. I don't know what to do...please help

Just make a backup of current hard drive, replace the drive, reinstall rebug 4.84 then restore

Don't think so, as people normally use the other method.
