Hardware PS3 4.55 FW Update -- What's new?

From what I've read it improves the stability (as if it wasn't already) but is there really anything useful or any new features on this FW update?

If you're using an ODE you should read this thread and the links posted in this thread. Apparently Sony included a bluray drive firmware update in this one that makes it bad to use with ODE's.

It added new headset support.

As for ODE, I always wonder how long Sony is going to stand there letting ODE run around (given it does not use drive key, making it easy to spot).

Updated my PS3 (60GB edt.) hours after this update was available and everything went smoothly but I've read that again there were people who had their PS3s bricked somehow.

That is a possibility with any update, especially when the origin of the update is downloaded straight to the console. So far I've yet to experience a brick with my own consoles.

that why for the most part i get the update for sony's site and do a usb install
