My PS2 model is a 77001, so I'm not sure if I can make a softmod with it or not.

Note: Not all USB Thumb drives/hard drives/storage devices are compatible with the listed software. Also, on SCPH-7500x and newer, Sony has made changes to the USB hardware/software which can cause inoperability of the listed software with the majority if not all of USB storage devices.

if you can find a device that can be recognized in uLE, then sure...if not, i don't know what your method of preference would be.

flameo200: it's possible to do that, unless i tihnk the model is like 10000-20000 or something... read somewhere that old models dont work

@flame Try multi type install

Now, for my question. It seems the PS2 is the opposite of the PSP, where many seem to have slims rather than phats. I've heard FMCB can be used on slims. What is the installation method if it isn't the Independance Exploit? I'm losing out on a lot of buisness here. Thanks!

The main options for a slim PS2 are - Using a cheat device which allows access to the USB ports, Swap Magic to boot a burned disc or if your console is chipped and capable of playing burned media create a disc with the necessary files on it....or alternatively get someone else to do the whole setup for you.

well, my ps2 softmod is still working, I'm using UlaunchELF to boot ESR from my USB stick and working fine! but most of my PAL games I burned end up in black and white O_O weird.

what's the best way to run backups once I get the softmod working?

I have the PS1 exploit going, and once I turn on my PS2, it goes to that greyish screen, and sits... I'm not allowed to play with my PS2 till xmas (damn wife, lol), but I wanted to know what everyone else is using... No, I don't have a HD yet, so it will be disc's I'm loading...

No, No, No... the PS1 exploit is modifying the Your SystemConfiguration.ps2 file with the exploit so when you turn on your PS2 with a REAL PS1 disc in it it runs unauthorized code... the PS1 Exploit...

Is the PS2 very new (like weeks old)?

Just so everyone knows, if I don't reply it isn't because I'm too lazy to post, it's because I don't know what it is

guessing your not using a proper SCART cable for your PS2 and using a composite 3 wire connector into to feed your ps2 signal into your tv set or into a 3 wire scart connector ... so it cannot correctly force the TV set's AV Refresh rate from 60Hz NTSC to PAL 50Hz

is this what you are using??

Its the same with a PAL PS2 and an NTSC game it goes black and white

what you need is this ...

No, I got a used PS2, V1 phat... thought that would be the best for exploits... I got it working, just need to know what's the best program (ELF) to run games...

Thought I'd try here before making my own topic:

I got McBoot to work on my slim (installed it on my card using a friend's fat PS2) and ESR. I'm really confused as to what I have to do in order to properly burn software to work with ESR. I know there's a patcher, but I can't seem to find it (tried google, will continue to). Also, do you need to use ISO's with ESR, or will just copying the image work?

many thanks.

You've got it backwards. The new PS2s can use the swaptrick to play PSX backups. The older ones i.e. most of the fats need a gameshark ($5 on ebay) to play PSX backups.

Haha...

I used a GameShark2 v1.2 to Softmod my PS2... (details on how to do that above)

So I'm pretty set... might stop playing Chrono Trigger on the DS to play the PSx version... then agian, I hear the cut scenes are the same, so prob not.

I'm gonna go look up this ESR, and find out what it's all about... hope I can still pop it in with my exploit!

I have a SCPH-9001 PS1. Is it possible to do the swaptrick on that because I watched some videos of people doing it on their PS1's? If not, then do you need a specific PS2 fat model to do the PSX backups and what Gameshark version do you need?

To do the softmod on a slim that cant use the USB Stick method, you just use a phat that can use see the USB sticks with one of the cheat devices, save everything to the memory card like your supposed to, then run it on the slim...

from my understanding, it should work. the problem is the slims not allowing the USB stick to copy to the memory card. since everything is on the memory card, it shouldn't be a problem then!

QUOTE(playallday @ Aug 21 2008, 04:08 PM) * What software do I use to burn/rip my games?
Use ImgBurn.

* Is there a guide for ripping/burning?
Yes. It's here. (It uses a different software but it doesn't matter.)

* Whatever I don't need a guide. Now let me get to my burning...
Wait! Before you burn the disk you need to patch it! Use this.
Also, if you know how, burn at 2.4x.

In other news, I updated the pack!

*sigh* I really wish this was a sticky... Come on, this has over 10,000 views!

Ok, is there any way to boot PS2 backups without patching them? Or even a way to play PS1 backups? Really pissed off that I wasted so many discs burning 1:1, and now I have to reburn them all after patching them...
