OP
I bought a PS2 Slim specifically because of it and it's rather unique in its own right. I'm aware that back then they'd use this for Swap Magic, but even now it can be more convenient than opening the official disc cover (admittedly I haven't done for years).

This add-on is available on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Swap-M...7000-Playstation-2-Play-Imports-/381681600877

Cool thing about it is that if you have a disc cover partially broken/loose, this'll do.

My scratch drive is a gen 2 drive salvaged from a 2015 Macbook Pro, I had to use 2 fucking adapters just to use it in my PC. It's slow, but it's good enough for swap for Windows and Photoshop.

I got a 1tb sandisk extreme for my switch a while ago for extremely cheap

direct conversion would be around USD 60

I paid about 80 for mine

4TB NVME Gen 4 drives are starting to come down, so I might spring for one after the new year.

I'd love to see top-brand drives be about $99 per 2TB, that's my sweet spot.
  • Jayro @ Jayro:
I know the crappy cacheless drives are even under that.
  • realtimesave @ realtimesave:
    hard drives are expensive

I buy refurbs for rom storage

    +1

IMO, I think NVMe drives should slide vertically into RAM-style slots between the card slots, saving space, latency, and letting you have more drives.
