PS1/2 Ps2´s Ps1 retrocompatibility is region free?

i am gonna buuy a japanesse copy of vib ribbon, but looks like the ps2 is region free, but the ps1 not, can someone comfirm me if it is gonna work?

Neither PS1 or PS2 are region free, both are region locked.

Not really (although WLaunchElf is helpful, both as a swap disc tool and to launch "PS1 video mode negator" if you need a video mode forcer)

If you plan on playing them often, you can install a PS1 non-stealth chip in your PS2 just fine, it's only 4 wires and doesn't have the side effects of PS2 chips
