First off these aren't my pictures. They were originally taken and posted by Cone on the AssemblerGames forum. I wasn't sure how many here read there so thought I'd share them here.

I'm really glad they moved the Start and Select buttons, otherwise they look pretty cool. I really like the shoulder buttons.

Those look neat!
I actually prefer them over the original phat, as they're more colorful (but those right and left buttons would have to go!)

Huh, my friend told me the new ones weren't going to have the gba slot... I guess someone is a lying douche.

Uh, buddy, these pictures are PROTOTYPE DS's, before the DS Phat actually came out.

And there is no "new DS" announced anyways, or any features it will/will not have.

Who feels like the douche now?

I do. I'm not sure if the dimensions are the same or not but the flip panel looks a little slimmer, and the texture of the plastic looks quite sleek and a little less Fisher-Price! I like the L/R buttons though, don't look so much like they'd pop out of place if you dropped it. I really like the stylus they're using as well.

Thank god they decided on a new model for the Phat.

Those look horrible! I mean freakin' HORRIBLE!

I like them, they look alot sleeker for some reason. The plastic looks alot nicer.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see speakers on those things

There's probably speakers but no grill. It probably sounded horrible!

QUOTE(CheatingSoi @ Mar 27 2008, 04:33 AM) Wheres the 4th Picture? When you click save, it goes 1,2,5,3 So i am guessing theres a 4.

There wasn't a 4th picture on AssemblerGames. There was another one with a giant Pokemon Scratch and Win game but it wasn't part of this set.

wow, i was looking at this not that long ago over at assembler. it's strange reading the same information on a different site.

I wasn't too sure if anyone else read there or not. It's a great site for retro stuff but you don't normally see alot of DS stuff posted there.

The prototype Wiis were more colorful than the launch ones too. =(

Actually.. I remember it being grey.. and also, they had controllers of different colors..

edit:
QUOTE(jgu1994 @ Mar 27 2008, 11:42 AM) You mean the revolution? Cause that was a great name, unlike the wii

Nintendo never keeps their prototype names.. Ultra 64, Nintendo Dolphin (Game Cube).. the DS was initially called the "Game Boy Nitro"

Without gameboy. Anyway those names are still used in product codes.
Es. DS Phat = NTR-001 (if i remember it right)
GC = DOL-001
and so on, and so on.

Don't forget the Wii and the RVL code

They look terrible, luckily they didn't do those
Tough already seen that prototype

Almost all nintendo protos look bad. When a Proto Ultra 64 controller leaked it looked weird, the one who had it said it was hand made, off balance and with all the buttons without the names on them. Also on the 'net there is a cartridge based GC that was used for development purposes along with the NR reader (dev GC, but using minidvds instead). The cartridge one looks horrible imo.

If wii were to come in colors...it'd be great!
I quite like the form of the handheld consoles...
It's nice to look back at what they have in mind..(comparing with what they delivered now..)
