Hacking Problems with R4DS on a DS Lite

So, I have a problem...

I recently came across my old DS and my R4 flashcard and wanted to give it a go... but i found the flashcard empty... So I went and downloaded the latest firmware on the official site and this is what I got:

I have a genuine R4 from the early days before the world and his wife heard of them and I use this alternative FW for the card :

Maybe give that a try instead ? I can vouch for it working on an original card.

@update: same thing... still nothing is working... that "?menu? on the first image is troubling me... anyone know how to fix it?

use R4crypt to decrypt the _DS_menu.dat file into WOODR4.NDS, and it should work fine. (Keeping _DS_menu.dat on the card too)

The two files should be the exact same size, and I have to do this for my R4i 3DS Gold carts to work.

What card is it exactly? Post a clear picture of the front of the cart with the label legible.
