N3DS + latest firm + A9LH and latest Luma3DS.

The problem is the following:

I can enter the HBL normally, but when I exit it (Start + X to reboot) an error appears:

'An error has occurred. Please save your data in any software currently in use, and then restart the system.'

I accept it and then the console is rendered unusable. Every game and app I enter just gives me a black screen then the console dies.

It happens every time.

What can be the problem?

How are you launching homebrew? Do you have the latest payload/version of the hack? Try with a different entrypoint

the launcher by yellows8

I do have the latest payload, just re-downloaded it from smea's website.

I don't know another entrypoint besides freakyhax, but I can't use the camera option yet.

The HBL is supposed to crash like that if you're going back to the Home Menu from it and not completely rebooting your system. I don't know what's causing the application issues, though.

EDIT: Ninja'd

Did you download the 10.7 payload and rename it from [whatever]10.7.0.bin to [whatever]11.0.0.bin?

No, downloaded the 11.0.0-33 version.

Noob question here, is the name of the file important?

Thats how it is supposed to work. ..
It does the same to me.
I would recommend just restarting.

Is it suppossed to make my system crash? lol

Ok, then the crash is normal. Didn't know that, thanks.

I believe. I doubt the application crashing is from an incorrect payload, but if you really want to you can delete it, start the CIA, and rename it to be the correct name.

hblauncherloader_otherapp_payload_NEW-11-0-0-33-USA.bin

is that what you're using?

also, does it crash for you as well? not the black screen and that, just the error.

Yes I'm using that payload and it also crashes when I exit.

ok then, almost everything is working as intended

I will toy with things a little bit and see what happens.

Thanks.

EDIT: I just deleted the bin file and started HBL. It launched, and created the file on it's own. Now it's working fine. Can turn off the console and launch games/apps with no problem.

I guess the otherapp I was using was messing with things.

Thanks guys for clearing my doubts.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
