Hi everyone! I just wanted to make a post showing off a little tool I made to get more use out of WiiRadio.
Since WiiRadio hasn't been updated in many years and the search functionality is completely deprecated, and the core use of the app is to playback .pls or .m3u files you've already gathered.
The problem is that the Wii can only playback MP3 files with a bitrate of 128 kbps* and a sample rate of 44.1 kHz, over unencrypted http. Most modern internet radio streams don't fit this description.
My tool allows you to transcode any modern internet radio stream into a format the Wii can understand, and host a proxy server from your own PC.
Find a radio station -> drop it in the webui -> put the .pls on your SD card.
Let me know if you have any questions or find any bugs!
*I've gotten some internet radio streams with a lower bitrate to play natively on my Wii, but nothing higher.
