So as the title suggests i restored luma3ds back to version 9.1 in hopes of fixing twilightmenu++ for some reason and now everything is gone. Its as if took out my microsd card. Is there any way to get my files back?

Luma3DS is just a file named boot.firm it does not touch anything on your SD card

Going back to 9.1 would not have fixed your twilightmenu ++ issues anyway as twighlight menu works perfectly on latest version of Luma. Your issue is totally unrelated.

It clearly looks like all your issues are related the the sd card which is either a fake card if it is new. Or if its older then the card is failing.

Try to backup the data from your SD and check the card afterwards if successful.
    1. Copy all your data from the SD to a computer. Reformat the SD to FAT32, 32kb cluster size, if bigger than 32GB and using Windows with guiformat.
    2. Check your SD Windows, Linux, OS X.
      • If you get any errors replace the SD.
      • If you get no errors copy your files back on the SD.
Only downgrading/replacing Luma3DS boot.firm has no bad effects. If you indeed did a complete NAND restore (which was probably not necessary and is unrelated to the Luma3DS version on the SD) to a point where your games have not been installed yet, your database is now incomplete and has to be rebuild.
:!: Simply reinstalling .CIA files will overwrite saves which makes recovery most likely impossible. :!:

    Huh?

There may be a way to get your files back or at least your games and their save data try this...
Power on your console and hold the start button to boot GodMode9 once GodMode9 has booted navigate to the directory labeled [A:] SYSNAND SD once you have entered this directory enter anther directory labeled title this directory holds three or more folders select the one at the top there should be a long list of folders
these hold your game data select any one of these folders and enter the folder labeled content within the content folder there should be several files select the one with the .app extension if there are two select the one with the smallest number at the bottom screen select the option NCCH image options... If you want to see what game you are currently viewing select Show title info to build the game into a .cia file simply select Build CIA from file and wait for the process to complet and there should be a .cia file guilt to 0:/gm9/out to recover your game save data you will need checkpoint a simple save manager for 3ds homebrew in the steps above select data instead of content in the data folder there should be a folder labeled save enter this folder and there should be a .dat file copy and past it then exit out of all of the previously opened folders and go to your SD card enter the folder at the root of your SD card labeled 3ds within this folder enter the folder labeled checkpoint (on a side note you will want to have backed up the game save data you are trying to recover) once in the directory labeled Checkpoint you will want to enter the folder labeled saves and select the folder with the title of the game in which the data previously copy and pasted belongs to. once in this folder there should be another folder with a long number for a title enter it delete the existing .dat file and past the one from the save folder and then recover it with Checkpoint I hope this helps you if you have questions please ask -Ryu

Edit: You will want to get all the .dat files of your games before you install any .cia files

Do you mean NAND restore? You should have created a NAND backup in any case right after installing the custom firmware.

    Please
backup your SD data do the hardware check before trusting this thing again. The database may have become corrupted and require rebuilding anyway.
Also important: Before doing any modification create a new NAND image.

Check if there is more than one folder inside
    SD:/Nintendo 3DS/<ID0 number>/

:!: Again: Do not reinstall .CIA files on your SD if you care for the saves!

You can try to use faketik to restore the missing titles, though I can't promise it'll work.

I did this and saw that all my files were in the right place and nothing was changed but my menu screen is still blank with only system apps on it. I can still boot into luma by pressing power+start+select but i can't go into godmode9 by pressing power+start

If you did nothing else at all… this sounds like some strange coincidence. Switching back and forth between Luma3DS v9.1 and v10.0.1 normally makes no problem.

Strange as well. Holding (Start) while turning on the power loads Luma chainloader menu (in case there is only GodMode9.firm it starts right away.)

    Do you have GodMode9.firm in SD:/luma/payloads ?
When turning on while holding (Select) does it say "Booted from SD via B9S" on the very bottom?
    • You need GodMode9 for the next test: Does it still find the installed titles on the SD? [The guide] Dumping a title. No need to actually dump the games now; only search for titles on [A:] SYSNAND SD.
    • Do the titles appear in System Settings → Data Management (greyed out with an ‘X’)? In this case missing tickets can be replaced with the already mentioned Faketik.
In case GodMode9 still find the titles but they neither show up on Home Menu nor in System Settings… I think this is a case for the “Rebuild database” function of the script CTRTransfer (Type D9).

But I have to ask @TurdPooCharger at this point to confirm or negate this.

All there is in my luma folder is config.bin and there is nothing in data management. It does say Booted from SD via B9S as the bottom when i hold select.
