This might be a silly question but on Sky3ds+ you were able to apply a private header to a game in order to prevent being banned. Is this possible on CFW? To somehow apply it to CIAs?

I switched to CFW so am just wondering if I should be concerned as I couldn't find many ways to prevent banning from online gaming. It seems that the preventative measures are not 100% preventative. If its not possible, is there any easy way to reverse a ban without losing any save data?

Backup your unbaned private local friend code seed and use a public one, then even if you get banned, your actual seed is intact and can just use yet another public seed if you want. You don't lose save data or anything at all. Also, bans almost never happen and 99% of the time nowadays it's only because people played leaked games before release while online, so as long as you don't do that, you are safe.

Playing online doesn't get you banned

There are no private headers for .cias, only .3ds and actual cartridges use those. Instead .cias use your localfriendcodeseed_b, which is console unique.
Like @ThoD has mentioned, you can avoid having yours banned by simply backing yours up and using public lfcs_b until they're banned. Or just use yours, and in the event you are banned switch to a public one.

Thanks for the reply, in that case I'll continue using my local friend code. I wouldn't play leaked games online anyway :)

Avoid leaks & cheats and it's all good.
Little addition to this, cheats online can cause a ban only if used online (and even then it's only for that specific game and it's a server-side ban), offline it doesn't matter if you cheat or not. Leaks though are best avoided both online and offline.
