I just had the idea to test with sd instead of USB, but that's where my trouble shooting knowledge on this issue ends, so I will defer your other questions to the reigning expert, Daco :)

Edit: to be clear, you tried it with an SD card AND the wiimmfi patch v2 added back so it now successfully appears in your list of priiloader hacks?
Aha! I thought I was replying to DacoTaco. I didn't see it was you asking about de the SDcard.
And yes I did try with an SD and the WiiMMfi patch v2 back in hack_hash.ini. It seems to be working in that situation.

ye, this seems to be a USB device specific issues.
i tested using a usb stick that i had around and i had no issues.

can you try the ini in this zip on your usb device?

Unfortunately that does seem to matter. Something else that I can consistantly reproduce is an Exception when I sekect Launch Titel.
The strange thing is that the hacks_hash.ini you send, it also chrtashes with only an SD inserted? That seemed to work before.
I wil retest the working situation tonight. And report back if that still works.

the title thing is probably another thing, as it does nothing with the hacks file.
im slowly starting to think it more has to do with something else than the hacks processing, but the question is then why changing the hacks fixed it.

OK it is a bit different then I first said. The hacks_has.ini you send does seem to work sort off. As the included screengrab shows. When you select System Menu Hacks the menu shows. So no crash. But as you can see in the screengrab, the of the list show a (null). And a crash will happen when you move behond the top or bottom of ther list.

that system menu has a whole different set of hacks, way less then i had. i can reproduce the null and crash you have now.

install the following and see if it works now.
if it works fine, try the original hacks file too.

It seems to work now. Aswell with the altered hacks_hash.ini as with the original one. Load Titel still crashes though.

could you enable the debug information again and go to the title menu?
its probably another bug that needs to be fixed.
i assume its a related bug, but i have no idea atm.

Just as an idea, since Priiloader can now do on-the-fly wiimmfi patching for disc games, how feasible would it be to have wiiware & channels auto patch as well? What about both wii menu and SD card menu launches? Might need to coordinate with the Riiconnect24 folks though.

in theory it is possible.
the patch consists of 2 parts.
first part patches system menu code to execute the code at some memory location and then the other part is the memory it executes. if they update that last part to also patch wiiware, ... :)

EDIT : @Cragdore : no, nevermind. scratch that. System menu will probably use IOS to start a title, meaning system menu has nothing to do with booting those, sorry.
the only way to do it would be to replace system menu's booting code with your own.

this is outside of my zone though.
ive always said that hacks are something i provide the tools for, but their application is for others to play with :)

Booted into Priiloader and selected Launch Title.
See the included prii.log.

This isn't cause to change our general advice to users to update to v0.9 does it? It seems like a rare issue and one that wouldn't prevent someone from using priiloader to recover from a semi-brick, so despite this small bug can we agree 0.9 is still the ideal version to be on at this point in time?

no, these issues happen when the user has the exact same amount of items on screen as the 'maximum' before it starts showing the scrolling menu.
he had 19 hacks (max was 19) and his log shows 19 titles so right now i assume its the same issue.
the scrolling of hacks is new, but i doubt it would cause a lot of issues because its so specific.
the titles code has been untouched from what i can see (besides debug messages) and therefor it mustve always been there, just needing specific criteria

mind testing this?

Tested the following

  1. Started into Priiloader. => Launch Titel => I get a working titel list. I can walk downwards trough the list and I can go back to the main menu. Starting titels also works.
However when I am at the top and go Up then it chrashes.

The following thins occured to me:

  1. The menu has 19 titles but 20 items. Not including the "<-- Go Back" item. Is it counted too somehow?
  2. The last menu item (20) saying (null)(....) can't be selected. It skips to the top when you move from 19 to 20. (See attachment).
  3. When I generate a crash I need to do a cold reboot (Shutdown to red led) with atleast 30 seconds turned off. Anything less will still generate a crash when entering the Launch Titel menu.
