I keep seeing that atmosphere allows launching HBL with R from any app, but even though I've got it updated to the latest version, for me it only works with album+R.
Any idea what the issue is? Thanks.

I'm sure nobody told you to load from album. You're supposed to hold R and launch a game like an eshop game you installed, or a demo or an nsp. It will take you to homebrew menu from there and you'll have extra ram. Holding R while launching album won't give you any extra benefits.

That's the exact same issue I have. I don't know if it helps to identify the issue, but the same thing would happen with the ppsspp core in Retroarch, everything would be ok until trying to load the iso. Every other core I tried loads the roms properly, only this one does this. I thought the standalone would work, but it gets me the same result, so for your sake and mine, I hope someone can help us.
Are you using album applet to load hbl or the proper way (title override)...?

You know what, no, I'm a huge enormous dumbass. I figured it out. In my case, I had two users, and I just didn't realize that when launching from a game+R, I had to continue pressing R as I chose which user to use.
I don't know if this info helps Riggan, but there. I got PPSSPP to load an iso and realized I'm dumb, productive day.

I guess this is my problem?

I have not installed any actual Switch games. I got the Switch a few days ago only to hack it and run other stuff. Mario Odyssey came with my purchase though. So, insert it, and when it appears in one of these empty boxes, hold R and select it?

I haven't touched my switch in a very time so out of the loop but what's the difference opening hbl via album vs a game and why

You need to hold R and start an installed game to access homebrew to get the extra Ram. It's needed for several cores PPSSPP (Retroarch or standalone) , Reicast, Mupen64 (Retroarch). You will most likely crash your system without it, or games won't run well.

I think that should work. You'll enter HBL and launch PPSSPP from there.

That did it. Got the Final Fantasy IV remake running. I notice though there's a little "popping" in the audio. Are you getting that? Tested with earbuds to make sure the speakers on this one aren't bad, and the issue carried over.

So I've been trying to play Final Fantasy IV and have an issue where the FPS drops dramatically whenever an enemy dies. I've tried all combinations of video settings I can find, but none of them make this issue better or worse. Eventually, I will get an error at the top of the screen that says "Video Buffer FULL...". Has anyone had any success getting this to work? I assume overclocking helps, but I'm using SX OS so that is not an option. Thank you for the help.

I noticed that too, and turning the audio latency up to high fixed it for me for the most part. Now if I could figure out why enemies dying brings the switch to its knees maybe it would be playable...

I dont try FFIV, but about the overclock...

I think i see something to overclock in SX Installer. I dont know IF is for system overclock or what is for. Maybe you should take a look.

Does this version of ppsspp on switch supports cheats like 60fps cheat?i already tried adding a cheats folder, and putting the .ini config file for the game, even tried to put cheats.db file. it cannot see any cheat files? anyone tried it yet?

Yes, it does, cheats work as they should. Maybe your cheat doesn't match its game id, idk... But if you put cheats in the right directory and they are named correctly, they do work.
