My opinion is that this would probably not have any positive effect
Yes, I got confirmation from n1ghty:
It's useless, you are writing directly on the NAND and not on the NAND file system. So any fragmentation would be the same and you would just decrease the lifetime of your NAND.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I also downloaded the seperate cia's using 3DNUS, but when i checked the integrity (hash) the DSP module one (0004013000001a02.cia) didn't appear to match
That's because the ticket is different, you can check with ctrtool -i (info).

Does it matter if i delete the GPIO title and install the expected version, or is it better to replace the DSP title in the same run?
(i'm not sure if they can make calls to each other and if it affects anything when only one of them is downgraded).
I'd do both in the same run, no doubts..

How do I fix this?

I tried downgrading my n3ds from 9.9.0-26U to 9.2.0-20U and got an error during the process.

Is there a way I can just install the correct versions of the titles I'm missing/are wrong? I can boot into homebrew using browser/menuhax, and run most things but not EmuNAND.

Code:

EDIT:
I got EmuNAND to run by rerunning sysupdater and downgrading again. I didn't need another 3DS or Zelda. If you can get to homebrew the you might be able to fix it too

my check log output is shorter now

Code:
Title ID 0x0004003000009e02
  Extra title
Title ID 0x0004013000001b02
  Expected version 0x0800
  Installed version 0x0c01
Title ID 0x0004013000001a02
  Expected version 0x1400
  Installed version 0x1801

I think I'll stick to this for now, unless I see something not working as I don't want to risk a brick trying to run sysUpdater again to get rid of those last 2.

After I downgraded a n3ds I got today

The following 2 didn't downgrade
DSP system-module
GPIO system-module

extra
amiibo settings

Guessing because they didn't include those because they are from old 3ds. Is it 100% necessary to downgrade those 2 because stuff seems to work? I don't really want to risk a brick in sysupdater if I don't have to.

If I do use sysupdater do I have to put in all the files again or just the 2 that need to be downgraded?

So, is it safe to grab those 'titles' from the Old 3ds packages before even initiating the downgrade or does this cleanup need to be done after the downgrade is done? Seeing how sysupdater quits randomly adding more titles may or may not add to the risk.
I'm assuming that this probably means 99% of the downgrades out there are incomplete (in one form or another). Most won't care unless it affects their installs and emunand creations.

I don't know if the new packages even pass the Safesysupdater checks, or they've become irrelevant at this point. I've been sitting on the sidelines just watching with my n3ds, and recent checks show a greater number of titles in the packages for n3ds (since last month)

It really doesn't affect anything. But yes the N3DS/O3DS share the same title.

I've been using my own put together downgrade packs that include the GPIO/DSP modules that contain 106 files (N3DS)
Sysupdater thinks everything is okay.

When finished, usually you're just left with the extra amiibo title that you can delete anyways.

Thank you. I will add them manually as you suggest as well.

Yep, it can be done afterwards too. I've done it both ways.

I guess add disclaimer "Do THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK"

Title ID - Expected Version - Installed Version - Description

0004009B00010402 - 0x1002 - 0x1402 - <N/A>

0004001B00010802 - 0x0000 - 0x0400 - <N/A>

0004013000001B02 - 0x800 - 0x0c01 - 0328builder/GPIO system-module

0004013000001A02 - 0x1400 - 0x1801 - 0430builder/DSP system-module

What is the use of these modules?
Should I downgrade the modules? (I have a N3DS sysnand 9.2, emunand 10.5 with rei and rxtools)
If so, how?

i got a frankenfirmware by trying downgrading 9.9 to 9.2

tryed to install missing cias via sysupdater and safe sysupdater, but both say downgrade complete, so i run downgrade check and got this:

Checking installed titles..

Title ID 0x000400300000b902
Extra Title
Title ID 0X0004013000001b02
Expected Version 0X0800
Installed Version 0x0c01
Title ID 0x0004013000001a02
Expected Version 0x1400
Installed Version 0x1801
Complete.
Checking missung titles...
Complete
Press (A) to continue

Is this good or bad :D

9.2.0.E

You don't have frankenfirmware. Most people downgrading will have what you have.
The extra title (0x000400300000b902) can be left there (I finally removed mine just before installing A9LH).
The other two titles can be fixed or left as is.

You're fine. Enjoy!

Thank you! That makes me really happy! ;) i leave them as they are

I've definitely got a franken firmware going from 9.6 to 9.2
24 mismatched titles, 1 extra title

Can't enter miniPasta. Do I just keep trying to downgrade from here?

I've heard that it is best to update to 10.3 first before downgrading to 9.2.
This only gave me 2 mismatched titles on my N3DS and an extra amiibo-settings title which i deleted using FBI.

(i downgraded the mismatched ones using the cia's that were inside an O3DS 9.2 firmware zip i found on "that iso site")

a similar issue happened with me, i downgraded from 9.6 to 9.2 and i'm stuck right now on frankenfirmware and can't access settings, however i CAN access HBL via browserhax and i have oothax with the 9.6 payload on it.

would it be wiser to upgrade my franken9.6/9.2 to 10.3, then redowngrade to 9.2 again? or should I use FBI via HBL to delete and install the proper CIAs??

So, after taking forever to decide I took the plunge on a 9.8 US. Animal crossing N3ds. I prepared most things (OOT Hax with Action replay for injection). Double/triple checked files. Checked files with SafeSysupdater, but opted to run Sysupdater instead. Sure enough, about 20 files in 'An error has occured'. Unfortunately, this was some nasty frankenfirmware (Native firm was 9.2, but the rest was a mess). Couldn't run Pasta or miniPasta. After many attempts at all possible fixes, ended up rerunning the downgrade with sysupdater (with the 104 title downgrade). So, now I have these 2 mismatched, and 1 extra title.

I have access to Gateway, so I'm interested in the Devmenu 2x solution for replacing the two mismatched titles. Can somebody give me some directions. Do I simply launch it in patched Gateway sysnand mode, and pick 'Import'?
Will it then just replace the existing two with the correct one(s) I select?

As for the Amiibo title, what is the cleanest way of removing that? Can I simply run FBI from HBL? Or do I have to run MiniPasta, install it, and then launch it?
I'd like to have as clean a NAND as possible before moving on. It's bad enough that things seem a bit more sluggish than usual on the home menu as it is.

Yes.

Yes. Just make sure to use the correct devmenu_2x.3ds (md5: B064D2CD8026825FE8324581552DD369) and you'll be ok.

With fbi.3ds, you can find it on the fbi github, just put it on your GW card and run it from there.
