We have an expression here in Quebec "Tire toi une buche", literally "pull yourself a log", or maybe "get yourself a log" would sound better. The log is a reference to a piece of trunk like those they cut in this video. The expression means "have a seat", because our ancestor would sit on such piece of trunk in many events (small events like just sitting around a fire, to big events like a wedding if there is a lack of actual chair)
