Hacking Possible way to prevent Gateway Brick Code?

How would you degrade to a lower version? I tried doing it before until it stopped working and it turned out that my card was defective.

I just want to be safe in degrading again but I'm not sure, if that might be what caused the card to become like that in the first place.

You can downgrade the launcher.dat without any problem, just replace the launcher.dat file at your 3DS SD card.
And so far, no launcher.dat or any archive at all modifies your gateway card, so your problems are probably a hardware failure, you can try using the 2.0b1 launcher.dat with the diagnostics tool and ROM to try to restore the gateway card program. Or even better, try to use the 1.2 version of launcher.dat, but this one doesn't have any graphical interface at all to diagnostics mode, you'll need to see how the gateway led blinks.

Unfortunately we can't give direct links to older versions of launcher.dat

Not exactly sure, just downgrading to 1.2. Is that all I have to do? Downgrade the launcher?

yep just copy the 1.2 launcher.dat onto your SDcard. no need to do the other stuff.............................sudeki300

I like how they seemlingly have good engineers, but can't afford to hire a spellchecker. >.>

Anyway, if they actually replace the broken unit that's pretty good news, although they seem too defensive in the way they write, bringing gangsters and all that stuff into the reply. x'D

They seem to have some way to unbrick consoles that have corrupted nand as well as the other chip
They mentioned is an earlier news posts they kept bricking the 3ds with code that was to prevent it from updating
This is just speculation though...
