Hello all

Since the homebrew scene is booming, it would be awesome to see a screen recording application no? Obviously the video file being saved to the SD card ( larger SD card the better haha ) .

Let me know what you guys think or know of any being made/if even possible.

( I need to edit this as people are thinking I am talking about "extending" the Switches built in 30 seconds recording. No that's not what I mean. I mean realtime, click start to record and click stop to stop = video file saved on SD card )

I would just use a capture card

Understood, and makes sense but it would be nice for people who like recording internal, just record with audio and extract from SD card. I myself have a capture card but for me, I prefer it to be a nice homebrew app for ease of access .

Based on Nintendo’s own system? Nah. You’re not getting longer than 30 seconds.
Using another system (WiFi)? Maybe.

No no sorry, homebrew . Since the system is mostly open now . Streaming service integration or something that records your screen. Not Nintendo OFW related.

Yeah it does i think 30 sec but it might have to be decoded Which may take some time but with home brew it would be easier
yeah it is 30 seconds also it limits where it can be used like in some games and apps it cant be used one of the strange ones is HyruleWarriorsDE

I feel like more than 30 sec can cause the Switch to crash. Think about it, constantly saving the last 30 seconds on a tablet which can barely run AAAs is already overwhelming. Just the thought of it...

Yeah playing botw will cause major fps drops but idont think it will crash could also depened on the video quality

Good comment but that's not what I mean haha . I mean, open a homebrew app that allows you to "start" recording . Click "Start record ". It begins recording to a video file to your SD card. Then go back to the homebrew app when done and click "stop recording" lmao. I'm not talking about the making the Switch "remember" longer than 30 seconds lol. Realtime recording.

I think he thinks I mean making the switch constantly recording in the background longer. Not at all. Totally different

pretty sure quality is 720p

This topic is getting confused between the switches game recording ( 30 seconds prior ) and what the topic is meant to be ( realtime recording click start, click stop.

Ooof. Didn’t realize that was a possibility lol. Yeah, that might work. But might take a while to decode & mod if your going to use Nintendo’s already implemented recording system. But if we create our own it might actually become a thing, in the near future.
