Just posting to say thanks @The_Ho! I sat down to begrudgingly write a Dockerfile only to be pleasantly surprised that there was one there already.
I built and ran it in a podman container to finally be able to play TGM on vita. Converting the Arcade rom dump to PSX, which is now playable via psp emulation on my vita after using POPS. Seems like a long walk to play tetris, but worth it! thanks.

im hoping that someday someone will be posting for at least fan translation for it...that would be awesome sir!!!
Me too. Mee too.
A Swedish translation would be super sweet.
I think that most of the heavy lifting is already done by changing it to a latin alphabet, changing the size of dialog boxes and such so that one could just "replace the portugese ascii string with a swedish or english string of equal or less length"
But no such luck.
I could not find the strings from the early dialog boxes of the game by loadinf the .bin file into a hexeditor :-(
So, I assume the strings are compressed in some way.
:-(

I will retire from work in about 10 years time, so if you can wait until then I can start looking into learning this stuff and work on a "translate once to one latin language then have a translation table and tool to auto-translate to any other latin language".
Ping me in about ten years and I might look into this.
Until then, we be sad :-(

AW... well everyone of us our time will come to retire...even me.. i already planned my games that every game that i have or wanted to play or already played..has been modded to my liking or at least rom hacked with either proper improvements or with a good better rom hack that is better or superior than the company release or at least the game is updated to the better version... its like Pokemon Emerald..ive studied and tried how to romhack the game to my liking and thankfully i was manage to do that...

i hope someone will touch Little Ralph and check on how did he manage to translate the JPN words... i believe we still have some few JPN Good games out there to be fan translated...

Hey I got a request

Nascar 2000 for the PS1

All the FMVs in the game are very choppy. Otherwise it runs fine. But would be cool to have the FMVs working properly. Anyone knows what flag might fix it?

I've been trying to get Asterix Mega Madness (SLES-03324) to work. Libcrypt is not the problem, but the game crashes when you start a day and it finishes to load. Can anyone else take a look at it?

Also, when playing Spyro 2 without the config, I noticed that if you die a few times in Fracture Hills while escorting the alchemist, the game has a lower framerate and there's visible screen tearing. Also, music may cut off weirdly in dialogues. It appears the config fixes this.
Maybe that's why the Spyro trilogy didn't a have config originally, as there are no big issues until later in the game, which may have been noticed when putting them up in Europe's PSN.

You could try bit 17 of command -1, or try out command 0x05.

If I find anything about Asterix I will let you know.

This problem with Spyro 2 is curious

==========================================================
It appears that the same Um
Jammer Lammy config works with NASCAR 2000 (SLES-02191).

Config below: Tested on Vita, If you can include @ronniesahlberg , thank you very much.

I read your message.

Thank you for informing that Final Doom now works better sonically with pop fe, possibly this is due to the CDDAs conversion to AT3.

But I don't understand why the comment was deleted.

Was it a false positive, did the game have problems afterwards?

Although Save States are always prone to failure without being linked to emulators or converters as well. Some games simply don't support save states well and have bugs.

======================================

@Webardo

I took a look at Asterix, on the Vita it shows error C1-2858-3, I haven't tested it for sure yet, but I did a quick search, I just need to confirm.

It seems to me the same error code reported by Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Skullmonkeys. I'm still going to test and see if they really have this code in common.

Although error codes are not very precise and can be several things. :(

=======================================

Thanks again @ronniesahlberg.

One question, I looked but couldn't find it.

does pop fe have any command to extract the EBOOT to the original image?

I say this because the size of images that use CDDA for AT3 is so smaller and advantageous in relation to the compressions I tested that it would be interesting to be able to use this function for this as well, saving storage space, being able to use both the ready-made EBOOT and extract a use that does not require EBOOT.

Thank you very much. That error doesn't surprise me, the game appears to have a similar issue to Mortal Kombat Trilogy, as it just crashes and turns off my PSP just as MKT would.

Skullmonkeys I believe does have a patch at least. This may confirm that this Asterix game requires a patch just as MKT does. Anyway, thanks again for testing.

I spoke too soon. Am still having to use the workaround at the start of each level to go into the menu where I select the Main Menu option, save state there, when reloading I go immediately back into the main menu and use the password screen from there. That gets around the audio being lost.

Still nothing with Fear Effect.

TOCA 2, I even forgot about this game, what was the problem with it? something related to graphical glitches?

Happy to help, I thank you back for your many contributions.

I've made some comparisons now.

Skullmonkeys actually already has a PPF that I sent to @ronniesahlberg

But these three games still cause practically the same errors.

Everyone has error C1-2858-3 on PSVita Adrenaline.

-Asterix - Mega Madness ->
The error occurs when starting the day, after loading it is possible to hear a quick sound initiation of the phase that is suddenly cut. The game also has an error during the DEMO.

-Mortal Kombat Trilogy -> The error happens during loading, I believe also at the end of loading, because if you try a few times the game will start the wind sound from one of the stages (The Street, I think...). The game also crashes during the DEMO showing graphical glitches in the victory symbol that repeats infinitely.

-Destruction Derby 2 -> Crashes when starting a race. The game also crashes during the DEMO.

Thanks for the information, so the problem could be generated by Save State itself.

There's something about PlayStation Doom, PlayStation Final Doom and PlayStation Doom Master Edition where they all have the same problem with audio being lost on state restoration. The nearest I have to an answer is going back into the main menu immediately resets something which needs to be reset.

AW sigh.... Fear Effect.... and yup graphical glitches for TOCA 2 sir....
In the little time I had today I saw that cmd: 0x00 in 0x06 - 0x07 corrects the graphical error, but causes a bit of slowness outside the car and severe slowness in the cockpit. This needs to be checked.
Post automatically merged:

The value of 0x11 helped stabilize the severe slowdown in the interior view, making the game more stable, but now it has very annoying stutters and needs refinement. I'll leave it here for now, if anyone can refine it I'd appreciate it. For today my time for this is over, it's a little short.

EDIT: I removed 0x11, I found this one more stable, it's almost there.
Before the race starts, get in and out of the car and the glitch disappears. All that's left to do is get it right.
Try this @OPPAI_DAISUKI

EDIT 2: Now it seems normal to me. If anyone can test and confirm so I can send it to @ronniesahlberg, thanks.

    yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    @TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    @Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    @TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
