Hi, I have Pokemon Platinum (U) running on an R4, and I also have Pokemon ShinyGold (A FireRed Hack) on my EZ Flash 3-in-1. Does anyone know if there is a version of the program Pokepatch, or a similar program that is compatible with Platinum version and will allow me to migrate my pokemon from my 3in1? I ran a search on this and found nothing.
    Thanks in advance.

I dont think there is.....it has to be an actual cart i think :wtf:, but im not sure. Also i have a question sort of similar for anyone who might know, for M3 users with the GBA expansion, i noticed there is a GBA load option, does that allow things like Pokemon Migration, and GBA Slot bonuses to be unlocked?

OP: I'm not sure, since it's Platinum. Platinum is a different game (2x size of game and save) and patches for D/P may not work on it. I don't think hacks will work either.

    dgwillia: I would presume so.

There is no 3in1 pokepatch for a game that has been out for less than a week - if EZ adds it to their EZV kernel I'll see what I can to do to again reverse their patch and add it to pokepatch for non-EZV users, but I'll not be playing these games to the "migration point" to test it myself (I tried with diamond, I was bored "to tears" of the slow pace of the game in less than an hour. The patch itself isn't too difficult, but without a means to quickly and easily test it it's somewhat pointless to try.)

Don't expect a sav editor all that quick, either - the folks who do this stuff need time and likely have other things to do than just mess with pokemon games.

wchill: the size of the ROM and the save file have no impact on accessing the GBA save and GBA header. In fact, even the size of the entire ROM has little impact on the size of the actual game binaries. Finding the right place to patch, the code that accesses the GBA FLASH and converting it to use SRAM banks instead isn't going to be a lot different than for any of the previous ones.

Thanks. I doubted that it would be out already considering how short it has been out, but I was wondering if someone tested it and found it worked with the same coding, or someone was bored and made one, etc.
I agree; this game is very slow, in fact I'm not quite sure why I like it [IMG] I guess I am just hoping for something that will make me have faith in Nintendo not being cheap, but I don't think I'll find that here... [IMG]
    Oh well.
They need to remake Gold and Silver, those ones were the best, IMO.
Anyway, I'm just ranting on now.
Also, @cory1492: I dunno if this will help, but here is a completed JPN save.

I give, I got bored today and this seemed like something I could do quickly enough to feel at least a little victorious even if it doesn't work... [IMG]

Well, if you are at the point where you can migrate in platinum it actually doesn't look like much has changed internally - in fact the raw code still pretty much matches up to the korean versions of diamond/pearl - though that could be trickery I suspect it may not be.

    3in1 pokepatch v3 alpha (link)
just an edit, can't be arsed to change the readme - should say "(no one has tested it at time of writing but at least the game still boots after the patch)"

*mods, may want to move this to the EZ forum since it is mainly 3in1 related?

Lol, thanks. This will give me some incentive to beat the game. If it works, I'll let you know.

Forgot to mention it earlier, for migration to work the save has to from the DS that is doing the migrating - it's tied to the DS in some fashion and just gives odd errors (same as if you try to migrate more than once in 24 hours.) So, I've never seen pokepatch work, but I'm told it does... [IMG]

The only thing not tried afaik is me starting a save and handing it off to someone else to put in the time to open migration (though I also haven't looked at the save hacking tool to see if it handles DS ID in some way.)

Yes, I think it did - I've been checking the spam box too since I asked for that email - not sure what is up. Replied on both PM and email anyway, maybe in the meantime someone who's reading here knows.

Is it possible to unlock diamond/pearl migration through a cheat, without investing a full play through (ie: anything less than a half hour or so) to test these patches?

    Hi,

first : no idea why my mail could have been filtered by your provider. I double checked your mail adress so it's not the reason (moreover I also posted on your blog and then it should be automatically sent to you).

regarding the cheat code, I never used any but I know you can make lot of things with Action Replay code. Little googling lead me to wikianswer according to which :
But I'm not sure it also unlock pal park or if it mess with other part of the game.

I still agree to play through the whole game from your initial save if this doesn't work (but it could take me some time, anyone with lot of free time is welcome to do the same for you faster than me [IMG] your great work on this patch at least deserve that !)

Though it would not directly affect migration itself, I would imagine that editing your save via PokeSav or hacking through an AR would allow you to speed the game up a lot, albeit ruining the experience. [IMG]
If you could get all 8 badges via a code and then use a coordinate modification to get to the Elite 4, you could use hacked level 100 pokemon to beat them. Then, you could go down to the Pal Park and test migration. That is the fastest way I can think of doing it.

    Edit for clarification

theotherfreakyguy ... ruin the experience? To quote myself earlier in the thread:
I think, for me at any rate, the game itself has already 'ruined' the experience [IMG] (at least I am getting a bit of fun out of it through this stuff though!)

I'll give it a go and make a clean first save, though, and check out the current pokesav and cheats while I'm at it. I think the biggest problem is I'm pretty much poke-illiterate [IMG]

Here's hoping it's as simple as using pokesav to edit the ID and secret ID...

edit:/ Ok, nothing I'm trying has worked - any of the cheat codes I have tried on my own game have come up with a either a black or white screen after it asks to load the save. I managed to get a couple GBA games and their saves from gamefaqs going, but it seems like pokesav is corrupting the ds save files (or the files were already corrupted) from gamefaqs' diamond - could be this vista bugger too thats making waves with pokesav.

Here is my first save from diamond usa (it was created on AK2/AKAIO, it is a raw save that should work with most anything and does currently work on my R4 as well), it'd be greatly appreciated if theotherfreakyguy could try his method on it, it sounds like it would take a lot less time as I don't have the coordinates or the play-through experience to know what is going on or where to go.

If there any of you have a raw save handy that does already have migration unlocked (I lost kettick's from way back when) I'd aim pokesav at it and see what happens (I'll google it, but never know it could be yet another waste of time like the other 15 saves I've gone through now - it does appear the saves I've checked so far are corrupt though.)

edit:/ after another in game save and trying pokesav again on my own save I'm able to confirm that it is working at any rate.

I'll let theotherfreakyguy try the hacking way !
But I'll try to unlock pal park from your save the normal way... unless theotherfreakyguy make it work before [IMG] see you in 2-3 weeks !

As for the game save, I can only provide a french one, I'll send it to you if you're interested

The language doesn't matter so long as it gives the migrate option, more likely than not it just uses the DS's language setting or has an option to change it anyway. Hope you like the friend/sidekick's name, in my brief messing about it gave me a few good giggles when it got used by his mum.

The download above has been updated to alpha2, seems I forgot JPN also had a platinum release.

Alright, I'll work on it, but it'll take me a while. If I get a save up and running, I'll upload it here.
Also, cory1492, are you aware that there is a Pokesav specific for the japanese platinum?

Also as I said I will be running an R4, but I am running a modified version of 1.18 that doesn't require the saves to be 512 KB (got it for Daigasso Band Brothers DX).

Sounds good theotherfreakyguy, I'll try to isolate why it's giving issues with sharing someone else's save to another DS (vvedge forwarded me a save and is also spending some time on a play through.) Either way, it doesn't matter to me what happens in the game itself so long as I can see migration work before I switch off to a new patch method so I can confirm what I'm doing is working without waiting on someone else to test it. As it stands, it'd be nice to know if the platinum stuff I added already to pokepatch is indeed working/not working.

I signed up to the pokesav forums yesterday which was what made me realize I had ignored the japanese platinum in pokepatch, had about 6 hours of crash course in terminology while I was wandering around seeking answers in the process/save file layout yesterday ~ so all I can say to all of you who have helped out with pokepatch is thanks for giving some time back in return for the time I'm spending/spent on this [IMG]

    edit:/ stop the press!
I just used vvedge's save (unmolested), an unpatched Fire Red on the 3in1 NOR and this save (retrieved from gamefaqs and converted to raw .sav with vba) written to 64k offset (using gbaldr to manually load the .sav allows me to pick the offset) along with a pokepatched diamond US (on R4) to successfully migrate! No recurring date/too soon to migrate issues! I've seen it work and now have baseline sav data to work with, without all this hassle entirely - and can now continue to evolve pokepatch [IMG]

So, therefore, pokepatch v3 is an epic success?
    Good work.

Indeed, but it is more vvedge sharing his save that makes it so from my point of view (as I said before, until today all I had was other peoples comments to go by in that it was working OK.)

I still cannot comment whether the new platinum patch compatibility actually works (a diamond save doesn't work with platinum), but the initial goal of re-working the patch method to allow other slot1 cards has been long standing (and is now quite realistic, so far on the list I have requests and bankswitching code to look at for flash advance,ez2 and elink - fa being the only one of them that I don't own personally though I think my f2a is bank code compatible) - but for 3in1 with diamond/pearl migration should definitely not pose any issues; with the info a korean pokefan shared with me (kor d/p) and what i've seen of platinum's guts the patch should still be effective.

Just my luck the thing that held me up for over a year on this was likely a glitch.

Great! I guess I'll hack up a platinum save and verify this (probably tomorrow though). glad that you were able to make such progress [IMG]
