does that mean its failed? just wondering because it didn't do anything after saying the map was built. after the first part should there be extra files on my sd card?

Do you have HANS folder in the root of your SD? I tried now and if you haven't it, the patcher just hangs on "map built" step

I only have a hans folder in my 3ds folder, ill add one now to the root and see if I get any progress. thanks

Yep, that's it, probably. Just create an empty hans folder in the root of the SD and try again

Currently the event deciding tries to favor your selected language and region, but if it can't find something then it will go with the next closest. Did you make sure to set your region to EU in HANS?

i selected JPN just for fun, now i selected EUR and ITA and work

That did the trick! this should be mentioned in the tutorial

Yes, Mystery Machine should create two files in hans folder: 0011C400.code and 0011C400.code.orig (the ID may vary depending on which game you are)

Ah, that would do it. Added that into the setup instructions, I think that's just about all the kinks worked out.

Do you think on the website you could add another column which actually says what you get from the event? Some of the names are ok for telling what you may get but others can be quite vague...
