Okay I think it's time to lay down some info on you all. There's a bit of false information about EVs that a lot of people, including myself have been led to believe. Back in the early days, Effort Values or EVs for short, were calculated and applied the next time a 'mon levelled up, because of limited computational power of the gameboy and GBA, which led to the speculation that EVs let you gain more stat points when you level up. Now, EVs are applied instantaneously as soon as a battle is over and has been that way since DPPL. You can see evidence of this occasionally, when at the end of a battle that raises your HP EV, you can see your max HP tick one or a few numbers up.
Onto another topic. Pokemon-Amie.
I'm going to tell you how to max out affection for a pokemon in about 20 minutes.
Step 1: Unlock Unlimited mode in Head-it. (The keepy-uppy game with yarn balls. You know the one.)
Step 2: Play 2 games of Unlimited Head-it with a score of 200 or more (enough to get 3 stars and 5 of those poke-puffs with the candy/fruit on top) Scoring any more will just be a waste of time for the purpose of this guide.
Step 3: Feed your 'mon these poke-puffs until it's full. Again, use the poke-puffs that have the candy/fruit on top, as it will net 5 hearts per pokepuff.
Step 4: Find your 'mon's favorite spot to be petted, and keep petting him until you get a musical note. (You'll know it's the mon's favorite spot by the higher pitched "rub" sound and the 'mon will make more of a "
" face than usual)
Step 5: Is your 'mon full and no longer giving hearts when you pet it? Start again from step 2. You should be gaining one affection stage per cycle, if not a tiny bit less.
Edit: Just to clarify, Affection doesn't go down over time as you think it would. One you gain an affection level, it's there forever, barring something like smacking your 'mon around in Amie.
