This is what I have been doing:

1. Enter battle, make sure you have False Swiper and someone with Sing/Hypnosis/Spore/etc (for when your Shiny pops)

2. Pop Adrenaline Orb

3. False Swipe until Pokemon calls ally

4. Repeatedly faint the allies

5. Every 30 turns or so faint the original Pokemon so it doesn't struggle to death, but make sure current ally is the same Pokemon or of the same family so the chain doesn't break

6. Repeat until you have your desired Shiny

Once you get to 10% you can go to...Route 16? I think. The lab to the right of a pokemon center and talk to the two people in there and make a Zygarde.

I'll have a go at some point :v

Let me give it a shot...

Okay buy the orb for 300 at the shop (you can buy many)
-Go find a pokemon you want to get, shiny, and enter the battle with it
-throw the orb
-make sure you don't kill it (when its health is low [below 50%?] it'll be more apt to call for help - sometimes help comes, sometimes it doesn't)
-when it does, kill the pokemon that came to help (bringing the chain to 1)
-keep doing that (killing the pokemon that show up to help)
-after about 30 KOs, wait for the initial pokemon to call in another helper, then kill the INITIAL pokemon (this stops it from running out of moves and "struggling"
keep repeating this process until a shiny appears. The longer it goes on, the higher the chance of a shiny showing up. Took me about 100-120KOs.

Your pokedex isn't complete when you've "seen" them all, you DO have to catch them all to complete the pokedex. Which is why touch trading is a thing, it registers them as caught if you have them in your possession for a minute.

Yeah Mareanie has a 1% encounter rate, and a 10% encounter rate as an SOS pokemon in the Melemele sea. I don't see how SOS chaining is a true chain though since there is an encounter table for SOS pokemon too. The same pokemon can get help from a different species, wouldn't that break the chain anyway?

I've already try some.. found shiny at ~40-50 encounters... I think encounter different species doesn't matter.. but not for sure yet

That's not how that table works. It has 1% or 20% of being called by CORSOLAS on that area. And to get the big % you need to try getting from bubbling rocks. Just caught it.
