Hi guys,

Over the last few days I have updated a 3ds from 2.2 to 11.1 Luna using plailects guide, I then used the dsi downgrade method to moved my daughter's 2DS onto luma cfw, so she is currently playing alpha saphire as am i, she wants all starter pokemon so I got omega ruby started the game for to the trade point so I could trade her another starter was then going to rinse and repeat so she had all 3, great plan right?

Well nope, we get to the trade section and infrared will not work no matter how hard I try it just will not link, I then try local network again even though we are in the same network nothing. And it's impossible to find someone specific online.

So we added each other as friends from the home menu told that it would then make us friends in game, nope once again not working, I then get told we need to have nnids attached to both consoles, which I do (used a fake one for the transfer then set up 2 real ones) again nothing, left it last night tried again today, still nothing...

Is this just extremely bad luck or is this because of the luma cfw? I mean I can communicate and trade with random people online just not the person stood next to me...

May be worth mentioning both games have been obtained from the freeShop.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum just wasn't sure if this was a cfw issue?

I just do online battle between OR (JP) & X (JP Cart on US) 2 days ago. Both on A9LH with Luma3DS.
So it shouldn't from CFW.

Edit: I'm trying to recall your situation
1. You Installed A9LH on 3DS and update it from 2.2 to 11.1
2. Then, you're using your 3DS to do DSi Dowgrade with 2DS, right?

have you tried Pokémon bank? try to deposit pokémons from ORAS..you have to be starting over and over til u get all three starters and finally move them all to the game..not sure tho why it won't let you do the trade, must be because your in-game time was too short like you need to acquire pokédex first to be able to trade perhaps?

edit: sorry, you already mentioned you are able to trade to random people..how bout u try to turn off the internet connection? leave wifi on and do a wireless local trade without internet connection..

I have all required pre requisites for both games, pokedex, pss etc. It just refuses to trade via infrared (no idea if I can test to see if one of the readers is broke) when selecting local network (we are both connected to the same wifi network) nothing appears and when choosing online option I can never find either of us on the list.

I have tried adding the consoles as friends using friend codes which has still not worked (we are both online at the same time).

So I'm completely stumped..

Would pokemon bank work transferring from one system to another? We both have unique nnids?

pokébank will only work on the console where it is installed..and it has a yearly subscription which will be tied to the NNID you used to set it up..you can store as many pokémons from legit cartridge or CIAs in the same console where you have PokéBank..you may deposit for example a pokémon from Pokémon X and start up a Pokémon Omega Ruby game and retrieve that same pokémon to that game..

edit: doing a system format can make you lose your pokébank subscription and your pokémons..doing a system transfer can also transfer your pokébank rights to the target console..

yeah doesn't really resolve the issue well that sucks I'll try again later but oh well :)

That's all done, the 2DS is already on luma now
I mean, if you really do as I speack (3DS > 2DS) may be because something stuck that make both console see itself as the same machine?
Since my both O3DS and N3DS are from different region, I can do neither DSi Dowgrade nor System Transfer.
Which means my both consoles is totally seperate form each other.
I just turn both consoles wi-fi on, Start their games, and now I can trade with myself like a sore looser.

This is just a theory though. Cause if the reason is cfw, I shouldn't be able to do a trade too.

^^ you mean, must be when after you do system transfer and restore to a previous nand backup that both devices end up with the same nickname and set of files?

Hmmm that's what I was thinking to be honest that's why I set up 2 New nnids for both of the consoles is there a way to figure out if that is the reason? I understand what you meant now sorry about that

Yeah, I mean somethings like that.

I think Unique NNID doesn't make it become different consoles, since 3DS doesn't create using NNID as a key in the first place.
When 3DS first release, NNID doesn't exist in the system. Also, NNID still doesn't need to make an app purchase now.
Most of the time, 3DS identify themselves by the machine itself, that why it use FC for friend system, unlike Steam/PSN.

May be you need to format one of them to make sure one of them become totally unique and try again.

Hmmm makes sense actually, so can I format one of them while still keeping luma and all the games I have downloaded?

And it's impossible to find someone specific online.

It's totally possible. Just add her friend code and have her to accept your's request and you can trade and battle directly with her.

I've sat there scanning both devices looking for one another for well over 10 mins and I have never seen the same person in either list let alone either of us on one another's list

Edit: I have also added each others friend codes as well as doing spot pass(which actually worked)

You add her friend code, then she accepts your request. After that you both open your games and connect online and She should be down there on the lower screen on the friends chart. Also you should be able to see her online and what game shes is playing on your friendlist on the 3ds

Yes, in the console I see her online and she sees me online, yet in the game we do not appear in either list (I'm not an idiot just so you know :P) quote happy to take pictures of this just to show you what is happening if it makes it more believeable?

Edit: come to think of it I never accepted any request? I added her code on mine then she added mine on hers is that the same thing?

I believe you but definitly thats is wrong. Something is happening. Are you using CIAs version of the game? It can be a bad dump or something.
Do you have any more friends add to test this?
Also if you have pokemon bank I believe it can be done if you are using cartridges, just need to put them on the same system.

I'm using a copy downloaded from freeShop so don't think it's that, what we was thinking is that I used the 3ds to system transfer to the 2ds then restored nand backup, which could mean both consoles are considered the same one of that is even possible

Have you ever recovered the NNID from system #1? If not thats probably the case. I believe you can create a new NNID formating it but im not quite sure.

Only done the downgrade 2 days ago so can't do any system transfer stuff but yeah that's what we think the problem is which is really annoying lol
