Yes, in the console I see her online and she sees me online, yet in the game we do not appear in either list (I'm not an idiot just so you know ) quote happy to take pictures of this just to show you what is happening if it makes it more believeable?

Edit: come to think of it I never accepted any request? I added her code on mine then she added mine on hers is that the same thing?

On my N3DS, I have only my JPN O3DS as my friend. If you see both friend and yourself turn orange, that mean you both already friends and should normally see each other in game.

Only done the downgrade 2 days ago so can't do any system transfer stuff but yeah that's what we think the problem is which is really annoying lol

Its alot easier if you install another version of the game for her and then she can just play until she can put the starters on pc and use pokemon bank to transfer them. Or even trade with herself on global trade system.

Although it won't solve his problem, I thinks this can use as a fastest solution. Use Pokebank Homebrew, let her play, transfer to bank, and restart.
Atleast, your daughter can have all 3 starters before we can find the root of your problem.

@n56 Then while we searching for a way to fix this, you should install these app:

• [Release]JK's SaveManager - Homebrew CIA Save manager.
• [WIP] PHBank - Pokémon Homebrew Bank

And do following steps:

1. Back Up your daughter's AS save using JKSM.
2. Put some Pokemons in Homebrew Bank
3. Restart AS, play until you can go to the first Pokemon Center then save
   
4. Withdraw a Pokemon from the bank to the PC in AS
   
5. Swap Starter with the Pokemon in the PC then save
6. Put starter in to Homebrew Bank
   
7. Repeat step 3 until you got all starter in Homebrew Bank
   
8. Restore your daughter's AS save from step 1 using JKSM.
9. Withdraw all Pokemons from the bank to the PC in AS

Now, your daughter will have all hoenn starter.

Although it took 30mins I have done it using that method, she is now very happy lol, shame we couldn't figure out why we couldn't trade normally this solution actually saved me time

guys i wana clarify something, say i got a legit cartridge of Omega Ruby, used Decrypt9 to convert to .cia and installed on my 3DS and my daughter used the actual cartridge, will either of us be banned? i know that when using a flashcart like Sky3DS you need headers etc to put the risk of a ban down but what about if i copied it as a .cia? anyone with more knowledge than me could clarify this? my daughter has already started playing with it so i can't take the cartridge away from her and i already invested several hours on mine..

No, neither of you will be banned because cia's don't need headers, and the cartridge your daughter uses is still private to that cartridge.

Hi guys,

Over the last few days I have updated a 3ds from 2.2 to 11.1 Luna using plailects guide, I then used the dsi downgrade method to moved my daughter's 2DS onto luma cfw, so she is currently playing alpha saphire as am i, she wants all starter pokemon so I got omega ruby started the game for to the trade point so I could trade her another starter was then going to rinse and repeat so she had all 3, great plan right?

Well nope, we get to the trade section and infrared will not work no matter how hard I try it just will not link, I then try local network again even though we are in the same network nothing. And it's impossible to find someone specific online.

So we added each other as friends from the home menu told that it would then make us friends in game, nope once again not working, I then get told we need to have nnids attached to both consoles, which I do (used a fake one for the transfer then set up 2 real ones) again nothing, left it last night tried again today, still nothing...

Is this just extremely bad luck or is this because of the luma cfw? I mean I can communicate and trade with random people online just not the person stood next to me...

May be worth mentioning both games have been obtained from the freeShop.

I don't believe if NNID is why we can't play together, since I never set one up one for my 3ds and my friend didn't too.
It might be the console identity mentioned earlier, since I can play local smash with other people just fine

It could be the problem, what is, if you make a backup and format one of those systems with TinyFormat and test again?
