This is speculation based on educated opinion.

Most people don't know when a new pokemon game will make an appearance, its rather simple, the new Pokemon game always comes after the former series cartoon ends.

This is obviously to make sure they sell as much merchandise as possible within its given series. These new series generally last Two seasons now. in the old days they were 82 episodes and lasted one season. Again, obviously to milk as much merch as possible. the last XY series was 60 total episodes. But a Pokemon remake was made in between after the first season, which was Omega Ruby/Sapphire.

Right now its in its Sun/Moon series and is on ep60 of 63 I think, with a summer movie I'm gonna assume. And an ultra sun/moon came after its first season (ep30) Which makes it logical that the new Pokemon series will kick off this November with a brand new series most likely for the switch. I'm speculating its gonna be shown at e3 or have it own event, maybe both this spring

CORRECTION: it is on ep43/60 in the USA (will probably resume and complete in May like always due to localization). The only thing I haven't seen from the episode guide are the Dimensional pokemon, done after completing the elite4, which I'm gonna assume will be the movie to end the series in the summer.

Well Nintendo said 2018 or later, so is possible.

I'm assuming it said "2018 or later" because they were potentially waiting for more major AAA third party support, Which the switch still hasn't gotten. So far the dates have lined up and it looks like Pokemon will be announced shortly

I dunno, I'd say Bamco, Square, and Capcom is pretty good. Only people that have outright rejected Switch so far are EA, but I put that down in the win column too.

I watched the latest episode and it hints at a return to kanto

Of Pokemon? I watched that too, the sub, and it was just a sledding episode, filler as next week the Ultra Beast invasion arc stars, with Buzzwole coming in and fucking people up, the preview made it look badass, sucking all the fat from Snorlax with his stinger. The TV doesn't indicate anything. The dub I think finished the little Kanto revisit, but will jump into the Cosmog/Aether Foundation arc.

I saw a tweet referencing a 4chan post of someone who claims to work for E3 preparations, and he was supposedly the same guy that predicted things correctly last year about the Switch. So for this year, he listed Pokemon for Switch being shown at E3, and it would be the 8th generation, and two different versions. I doubt that, but at best, it will just be announced with a "Soon" or "In development," and won't come until 2019. I really hope so because I need as much time as possible to get a Switch.

Tradition does dictate that a year or 2 after the mid-generation titles, in this case USUM, a new generation comes out. From Gen 6 to 7 though, there was a 2 year break, ORAS came in 2014, SM in 2016. For a leap into Switch, I predict that kind of time being needed.

Yeah as much as I want to believe, feels too early after US/UM. Possible they had half the team working on Pokemon Switch during that time, but I doubt it.

If it's a return to Kanto, some sort of Gen1/Gen2 remix would be great, sprinkling in Pokemon from other gens too ofc. All with full console graphics and animations. :grog:

If there is voice acting, then GODDAMMIT I'M GETTING A NINTENDO MOTHAFOOKIN' SWITCH.
If.
I'd prefer it kept to important story characters/in-engine cutscenes, would just get skipped with the nothing NPCs anyway. Would be cool af to have Rocket League-style emotes in onlines battles though lol.

Meh, I didn't even finish S/M there were just too many cut scenes for me to enjoy it. Hopefully the next game(s) have less.

I believe it's in their interests to get it out by the year's end. Pokemon dropping on Switch will be positively massive for Switch sales, and they really need to keep sales momentum up through the system's second year. I'm positive it'll either by a holiday title this year or a summer title next year.

Thus begging the question, why NOT wait? At least until the Switch is at least 2 years old. By then sales would stagger from prior releases.

Because it's more than anything meant to push hardware sales, rather than benefit from them. The second year momentum of the Switch is important for Nintendo, as strong second-year sales will prove the console's sales longevity beyond the initial hype. That does a couple things for them. It means more confidence from developers, meaning a larger game library, which in turn means more draw for consumers to buy Switches, creating a positive growth cycle. As such, it would ultimately be much better to release Pokemon this holiday.

Pokemon is an annual/bi-annual franchise, meaning there's at least a few more Pokemon games left for the Switch after this one, and those are sure to benefit from strong Switch sales early in the system's life.

The same could be argued for every year after that. I do agree they need a heavy hitting title to push and promote the system so it continues to do well. However, everyone KNOWS a Pokemon game is coming. With Bayonetta seeing its way onto the system at some point between now and early next year, I'd assume it's safer to let that do its job. Pokemon is inevitable and when it comes it comes. Just think we'll see it within the 3rd year.
